  • 2162: Beasts
Orangutans reimagined by Jake Gaule (Submerged Tapes).
"The original recording is of orangutans in Borneo. The calls that they make sounded very aggressive to me so I decided to go down an aggressive route and juxtapose the sounds they were making with some quite intense synthesised sounds. I also made liberal use of pitch shifting and time stretching to distort the vocalisations and chopped up some of the noise to use as percussion/hi-hat type sounds."

  • 2161: Strong winds overlooking a cliff face
Passo del Lupo reimagined by Sebastian Dumitrescu.
"I wanted to create a partly artificial landscape of weather, and it seems that using a real recording works best. The recording of the wind is always present in the piece, and together with it we can also hear some artificial landscapes that are closely controlled using information from the original recording.
I thought the original filename (simply describing the content of the recording) was in some way poetic so I decided to keep it as the name of the piece."

  • 2160: Meadow
Jungle House reimagined by Qush Abdul (leholyghost)
"I’ve always been fascinated with the sounds of nature and for this project, I felt the urge to create sonic entities that has to do with the whole concept of industrialization and a brief statement about the existence of nature in the cycle of life. Currently, I’m working on a collaborative project and it has a similar concept of issues pertaining to the whole existence of beings.
I started the track with the sample given, manipulated it with effects triggered in automation to stimulate the industrial sound of work and slowly shift the perspective of being in a jungle, forest or in this case the meadow. The voiceover used is from one of my recordings done back when I was doing my diploma in audio production. It fits nicely with the whole concept of the track on how the existence of nature revolves around the cycle of life. The instruments used are mostly electronic samples and plugins and they are created to represent the sounds of animals or creatures in the “meadow”. It is rather dark and tribalistic as I wanted to create the wildlife’s feelings of unhappiness in this sense."

  • 2158: The wolf's wind
    Recorded by Cities and Memory.
Strong winds blow alongside a cliff face overlooking the Due Sorelle beach, from the top of the Monte Conero nature reserve in Sirolo, Italy. The path leading up to the cliff face is known as the Passo del Lupo ("Wolf's pass"). The recording was taken from a sheltered spot, over the top of which the wind roared powerfully.

  • 2156: In the forest at night
Nature sounds have a therapeutic and calming effect on our minds. Personally, I enjoy spending time in the woods to relax and escape the hustle of modern life and go back to my roots. This audio provides a gentle breeze and many chirping birds.
    Recorded by Marcel Gnauk.

  • 2153: Mind.Divided Nature Sounds
    Forest sounds reimagined by Mind.Divided.
"I've always loved just sitting down in a forest and listening to the sound of everything around me. I wanted to create a piece that didn't disrupt that song of nature but rather expresses a sort of admiration for it."
