  • Glitch Cuba
    Havana, reimagined by Andy Lyon.
"I wanted a predominantly ambient sound with a hint of glitch / noise. It took several takes to get the levels right, I was editing the glitchy percussion on the fly which kept causing output peaks, a brickwall limiter and turning the level right down sorted it in the end. The perils of live editing!"

  • Norton Canes Services, Staffordshire UK
By Richard Norton. "I was traveling on the M6 yesterday and stopped for some petrol at Norton Canes Services. I paid for my fuel and used the toilets at the petrol station. It was bizarre, they had a loud tape of exotic birdsong on a loop and the walls were covered in sunflower pictures. As I was the only person in there I couldn’t resist grabbing a quick recording on my iPhone and taking some pictures. Thankfully, no-one came in while I was doing it!"

  • Perforator Pop!
    By Vlad Suppish.
"While recording stuff in the city of Kiev, I've recorded perforator drill in corridor of friend's apartment.
This week, inspired by Cities and Memory, I've revisited a lot of my field recordnings and stumbled on this one again.
So eventually I took 2 seconds long snippet (4th second of raw recording), loaded it in Korg Electribe ESX1 sampler
and created short sketch using only this sample as the only source.
It's always quite amazing what you can do with tiny but harmonicaly rich sound!
The result is short synth-pop flavoured track, reminiscent of Depeche's 'Construction Time Again' sound."
