Psalm One offers a profound vision of two ways of being. One way is a picture of lifeless chaff, that doesn't produce anything, and is tossed around by the wind. In contrast, the way God wants for us is like a flourishing tree, rooted by streams of water.

Part of Jesus' task as the Messiah is judge the nations at his return. One day each of us will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account for our lives. Although the idea of judgment makes many people nervous, Jesus returning as Judge is actually good news.

The Holy Spirit is the very breath and wind of God, bringing life to the world in general and to the church in particular. He is the Master Witness for Jesus and gives the church power to testify to the gospel. Jesus is the Spirit baptizer who immerses us in the fire of God.

Forty days after rising again, Jesus ascended into heaven to receive dominion, glory, and a kingdom. The ascended Christ reigns over the nations as High King. And he calls us near to the throne of grace as our High Priest.

The first person the risen Jesus appears to is Mary Magdalene: a grieving woman. Jesus responds to the suffering and brokenness of the world, and promises to make all things new.

Our goal is to become people of one thing: to dwell in Yahweh's house and gaze upon his beauty. He alone is our light and salvation.

Having denied Jesus three times, Peter goes back fishing. But it turns out Jesus was fishing for him. Jesus appears to Peter and offers him a fresh invitation to follow him. No matter how many times we think our past days with Jesus are in the past, the risen Jesus meets us and calls us again.

Peter sinks when he sees the wind and the waves. Walking on water is more about your eyes than about your feet. It's about beholding the One that the wind and the waves obey.

Eastertide is the period of 50 days between the Resurrection and Pentecost. Throughout this series we are exploring encounters the risen Jesus had with his followers. This week we explore Jesus' commission to the Eleven to disciple nations.

The One who died for our sins was raised on the third day, and the tomb is empty. Jesus of Nazareth is now the world's crucified and risen Lord. There's no news as beautiful as this gospel. Through the resurrection we have new birth, living hope, and an unfading inheritance.
