While discussing the positives of a concept is more palatable to many than discussing the negatives, at times it is crucial to consider seriously what something is not in order that we can then truly come to appreciate what it is. It is here that we consider the Apostle Paul's instruction to the Corinthians as to what love is not in order that we might then more fully appreciate what true biblical love is. 

We live in a world that speaks of love in countless and abstract ways yet in ways that are void of any true substance and meaning. So where do we derive a biblical understanding of love? In 1 Corinthians 13 the Apostle Paul outlines for us what true biblical love looks like and what it is not. 

What happens when God's appointed shepherds fail to shepherd the flock and instead serve themselves? What words does God have towards these failed and wicked shepherds? Though these are condemning words, the indictment of these failed shepherds give way to the hope of the promise that God will one day appoint a good and perfect shepherd over His people, the Lord Jesus Christ.
