In this guest sermon, Tony Wee from Cru, preaches on the transforming power of Jesus from John 4. John shows us the deep thirst that we all have and the life-giving water Jesus offers us.

Wherever Jesus goes he turns brokenness to beauty. Jesus loves to take lost causes and impossible situations and transform them into vessels of glory. The Gospel of John shows us that Jesus is the Friend, Shepherd and Redeemer that we’ve all been waiting for.

We’re constantly hiding our deepest faults and running from our deepest fears. Confession is the practice of bringing our hidden selves before a loving King. Confession frees us from guilt and brings lasting renewal.

Many people are often prone to hide their negative emotions. But the Psalms teach us the sacred practice of lament. Lament is pouring out our grief to a sympathetic God who walks with us in our darkest moments. Lament is the beginning of a healing process that will ultimately result in praise.

Prayer can feel like a dry discipline that we are often too quick to push aside. The Psalms teach us that prayer can be a life giving means for God to powerfully work in us. In prayer God’s people can speak to him in every season and receive an otherworldly peace.

The Psalms show us that Christianity isn’t just about belief but about following Jesus on a life-giving path. The Psalms show us how we can develop an everyday liturgy of seeking God through the sacred rituals of meditation, prayer, confession and praise. Each week we'll discover spiritual rhythms that can grow our inner lives so that we can sing from our souls.

The Words of David are a beautifully written conversation with God. A conversation that includes praise and lament. Adoration and Fear. Psalms allows us to see into the worship of a “Man after God’s Own Heart”. Worship is what takes place when we purposefully recognize, and engage with, the presence of God. Not just the spiritual presence but also the understanding of who God is. Worship is our response to a God who demands our attention and devotion. And as we worship our lives and the lives of those around us are changed forever

What is God’s dream? What does he long to do in our world today? Through Joseph’s story and dreams we learn that the heart of God is to reconcile, rescue and bring a final healing. God invites us to live in light of this greater kingdom dream.

Many of us are not led by our dreams but feel chased by our nightmares. Even though Pharaoh was the most powerful man in the region, he was still terrified by these images of doom. God teaches us through Joseph how to overcome our fears and trust in a gracious and loving King.

We live in a time when sex is often a commodity that is bought or sold. Sex is often something we continually fantasize about. In Genesis we see all these false ways people view sex. But Joseph shows us the calling of God’s people to live faithfully in a sex obsessed world.
