The final session of our study into Augustine takes us to the issue of Legacy. The impact this man has is deep, wide, and positive. We explore some of that today, along with some concluding thoughts around what our legacy should be.

The devotional question is: Should I be concerned with leaving a legacy on earth?

Part 2/4 of The Marriage Special. 

The reality is that many of us are in, have been in, or will be in difficult marriages. Marriage isn't the fairytale story we were raised on; but nor is it the dreadful, dead institution we witnessed in our parents. 

The Bible is incredibly helpful to us in teaching about how to live in a difficult marriage. Listen as we consider how to live through these hard situations as faithful Christians.

"How much authority does my pastor have over me?" - That is the devotional question in this session as we zoom in on the pastoral side of his life. 

His view of church, her pastors, and their authority bring some clarity to topics which confuse many people. In how much am I to submit to my pastor? What are his limits? 

His tireless and faithful pastoral life is an example to anyone in the ministry or considering joining it. 

There are unique aspects to Augustine's teaching, including as it relates to interpreting Scripture. He is known for using the allegorical interpretive methodology, and so, we talk about what that is, why it is the case, and what that means for us today. Is it proper to find allegorical meaning behind Scripture or should we only consider literal interpretation? 

We also provide examples of his teaching of objects as Things and Signs. 

The devotional question is: How do I understand what I read in the Bible? 

Sometimes you're given (or can give) the perfect advice at the perfect time, as I was last year. 

This is a call to do hard things when you feel like not doing them. 

There will be fewer churches in 20 years than there are today, but they will be larger.

This is one of the answers that comes from thinking about where we are and the changes that are coming. Let's channel our inner bird-eyes and see the bigger picture. How is society shifting? What does this mean for the church? Will the church have any influence left in 20 years? 

Certainly, we are not infallible, but careful thought about the current landscape and how it is evolving will help inform where things are headed. This is important, because we need to constantly think about the meaning behind what we do and how that will effect future generations.

I am on a kick about music right now and I am here to make a plea to you. 

We start by briefly describing the problem of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), illustrated by the two most popular "Christian" songs over the past four years. 

Then we get into an important historical church practice, musically, and a plea to reform. I am asking you to let me convince you to reform your view of Christian music and worship. 

Having completed the "historical" side, we now zoom in on specific aspects of Augustine. In this session we examine what characterized his life as a believer. Topics include his conversion, his devotional life, and his family/personal life. 

The devotional question is: How do I grow as a believer? How do I get out of a rut?
