Jesus last words to the church in the Gospel of Matthew are some of the most well known words in the Bible. Go. Make Disciples. Baptise. Teach. But have you ever wondered why Matthew chose to end his biography of Jesus's life with this? The mission of carrying the Gospel of Jesus to the nations didn't start with us. It didn't even begin with the church. It began in the heart of God and in the mission of Jesus himself.

On Sunday we'll look at Jesus the missionary and then we'll look at us. Do you have what it takes to be a part in God's global mission? The answer might surprise you.

How does a person go from being spiritually dead to passionately devoted? If you're thinking it has something to do with the Gospel and the Spirit's power, you'd be right. But before we get to the Good News, we need the bad news.

God's law is more all encompassing that we realise. We are more incapable of being good than we'd like to admit. That's why we know that the Gospel is 100 percent God's work from first to last. The grace of God that saves us is the same grace that changes us. It's the grace that gets us off the sidelines and into the game. Grace works.

Grace works. It really does. But what does it actually do? The answer is more than you might think.

Grace doesn't just save us and fit us for heaven. Grace teaches us how to live now--how we can live in this world without succumbing to the pressures and temptations of this world. Grace is what makes us fit for good works. And grace has a Name.

You've probably heard stories or had experiences of ugly, destructive behaviour in churches. It's one thing to be hurt by other people. But when it's people who claim to know Christ, it can be completely disorienting. It's just not the way it's supposed to be.

Paul has some thoughts for Titus on what it looks like for Christians and churches to live their every day lives in a way that isn't just typical, but beautiful. You'll want to hear what he has to say so that you too can play a part in building a beautiful church that is a worthy prize for Jesus, the Bridegroom.

What’s the difference between a loving rebuke and loving rebuke? Maybe you’ve been on the receiving end of a friendly word of correction. Or maybe not so friendly. It all depends on the heart behind it. In Paul’s letter to Titus he shows us how it ought to be done.

The occasion for his rebuke is false teachers that have sprung up within brand new churches on the island of Crete. There’s plenty of wisdom and warning for us there too.

We're back in the book of Titus this week, and Harald Baulis, one of the pastors at CityLight Plympton will be joining us to unpack it for us. This week's topic is all about church leaders, specifically those called to be elders and pastors. What sort of people is God looking for and why do we need them anyway? 

The apostle Paul wrote a third of the books in the New Testament. Most of those were written to churches, but a few of them were written to his closest friends. The letter he wrote to Titus--one of his best friends and co-workers-- is full of wisdom and grace. His main message-- the grace that saves us is the same grace that trains us to live more and more like Jesus.

This week we'll introduce Paul, the writer, Titus, the receiver, and the grace of Jesus, the theme. The challenge for us is the same--how to stay grounded in the grace that leads us back to Jesus day after day.

What would it look like for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully among His people? What would revival look like if it came to CityLight South church? Perhaps not exactly what you think.

When the Spirit comes in power, one of the first things we see is a radical sense of unity among His people. We see people from all walks of life gathered together. Everyone giving. Everyone sharing.
