Receiving Christ is an individual decision and at the same time you’re placed into God’s family the Church. You become part of a community that God has placed you in for their benefit and yours. Each of us brings unique gifting, personality, and experiences that are intended for the good of the community. This is what fellowship is all about. Fellowship is much more than eating potluck dinners at a church! It’s about sharing life, enjoying, and learning from one another. The glue that holds fellowship together is love. And love is much more than a mushy sentiment because that’ll never hold us together when we disagree or clash.

This Sunday we’re seeing how an unexpected encounter between King David and one of his citizens teaches us an important point about worship. The word “worship” in the English language comes from the olde Anglo-Saxon for “worth-ship”. To worship means to declare the worth of the object we are worshiping.
