We hear a little snippet from artist Benjamin Earl and his piece Bliss. The CIVA team comes together to reflect on the festival’s first edition. What was great, what was not so great? Maybe we might even start thinking about CIVA 2022…!

Tonica talks a bit more in depth about the thinking behind her programme for this year: Conversing/Converging Intersectionally on Virtual Artforms (CIVA). She also  chats with the musician Ciara Moser about her studies, work and inspirations as well as her work with accessible music softwares and how they enable her to compose and write music. 

The media researcher and CIVA Discourse curator Marijn Bril joins Tonica Hunter to talk about curating a program that reflects the digital and analogue, nature and the virtual. We also have an introduction to #CIVAACTVISM by curator ayo Aloba. 

Laura Welzenbach on what the CIVA Ambassador Groups are all about. Tonica also talks to VICE Austria’s Chief Reporter Alexandra Stanić about cyber trolling, hate on the internet, and the CIVA Code of Conduct and its rep Janine Scheer-Erb. We end with an exclusive affirmations audio from a healing workshop taking place on 26th February.

Martina Menegon, Maximilian Prag and Marlene Kager talk with Tonica Hunter about what it takes to create the exhibition spaces, meeting rooms and stages for CIVA.  And we get a cheeky snippet of the audio from Christiane’s work from the exhibition: EDEN. 

Tonica Hunter calls up the artist and DJ Sippin T living in Kingston, Jamaica to ask them about their art, coping with the pandemic and trying to find calm and peace in being ‘anti productive’. And the musician and spoken word poet Jahson The Scientist opens up about his all Black errthing compilation album project “Black Seeds” following his conversation with CIVA music programme curator Dalia Ahmed.
