TSN/RDS hockey insider Pierre LeBrun says that he heard that the Canucks and Jacob Markstrom's agent Newport Sports have been in talks all day today trying to get a deal together. LeBrun also says that the Canucks are still trying to work out a trade with Arizona for Oliver Ekman-Larsson, whose agent said earlier this week that the deadline to get a trade done is tomorrow.

John Shannon says this isn’t a great time to be an NHL free agent because GM’s want to drive contract prices down & the list of players able to drive any prices up are few & far between.
