The Athletic’s Harman Dayal says Jim Benning’s tenure can be broken down into three phases. Harman says it’s a bit exaggerated that Benning was completely handcuffed by what Mike Gillis left him. Harman also there was the phase when Benning tried to accelerate the rebuild but that it’s also hard to argue with his drafting in the more recent years.
