Talked about the quote Allvin said where Canucks have no superstars. Talked about JT Miller and the kind of deal he would want to sign. Talked about Bruce Boudreau. Thinks that it will be somebody else that is coaching the Canucks to start next season. Talked about what Allvin thinks of Bruce. Says they will make a decision in the offseason. It’s a tough moment to be a coach. Talked about Brock Boeser.
JPat in his regular spot. Talked about Brock Boeser. Talked about why Bruce would put Dickinson with Horvat, rather than Podkolzin. Talked about where he was for the Sedin’s final game. Talked about Ryan Getzlaf. He could be a mean piece of work. Had the power in his game but the play making ability as well. We don’t see it very often when a guy plays with one team for his whole career. Got his cup early and 1000 games later. Boudreau had nothing but glowing praise.

John Shannon, our Monday NHL Insider, joined Matt and Blake for his regular shot. Talked about if the Canucks have any superstars. Says no they don’t. Doesn’t want to upset the thin-skinned BCers, but look where Patrik is coming from. PIT. They have superstars there. There are some potential superstars on this roster but nothing of the ilk that PIT has. Talked about the future of Bruce Boudreau in Vancouver. Talked about Evander Kane and what he has done for the Oilers. Talked about Mike Bossy.
JPat in his regular spot. Says the Canucks don’t have superstars. Has time for ‘stars’ but superstar is in another stratosphere. To eclipse that, you need to be the best in your position for years. Not convinced QH43 will win a Norris in his career. He is in a golden era of dmen. Jeff listed off a number of very good young players that he will always be in the conversation with. Allvin was absolutely spot on. There is a long way to go before they can put anyone in that category. JT Miller is having an incredible season but it is not gaining the attention of anyone around the league. Reserves that title for a very few amount of players in the league. Talked about BB calling out Horvat by number and not name. Talked about the rumours surrounding Bruce Boudreau and if he’ll be back. Talked about the team maintenance day. Friday regular, Rick Dhaliwal joined us to end the week. After the guys ripped Ricky for buying ice he talked about Aiden McDonough and his decision to go back for a 4th year. Talked about Trent Cull and what Abbotsford thinks of him. Talked about Rathbone. Rutherford says he is coming up. Wonders what they are waiting for with playoffs out of reach. Talked about Bruce and the rumblings that he might not be back. Ricky doesn’t like that there would have been 3 coaches in 9 months, if he doesn’t come back. Last thing in the world a team wants. Thinks that Boudreau would want to know very soon if he will be back.
The head coach of the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team, Bev Priestman, joined Matt and Blake. Talked about what it will be like to finally have a crowd in Vancouver as they play in Vancouver for the next couple of matches. Talked about Christine Sinclair. Talked about Quinn and the role they have played in the squad. Talked about the small town in England, population 28,000, that both Bev and Herdman are from. She is in Canada because of the shot he gave her. Talked about the chance she thinks Canada has in Men’s world cup. Says that John can do anything. Two of the teams are incredible but there is nothing this team can’t do. They are a threat in the counter attack, they get shutouts. He defends with a clean sheet mindset. When you look at the forwards they have, they can get anything done. The longer the game goes, the more pressure on them. Talked about the athleticism. Said they are the only team doing what they are doing without a league. Says that will be rectified by 2024.
Rob Williams of the Daily Hive joined Matt and Blake to close the week. Talked about the World Cup and how Canada drew into the tournament. He isn’t the player fans were hoping they got. Talked about the whispers surrounding Boudreau and returning for next year. That would be a tough sell to the fanbase. He is more popular than any of the players right now.

The President of the Vancouver Canadians, Andy Dunn, joined Matt and Blake as the C’s get ready to gear up for their first season in Vancouver since 2019. They are as excited as they can be to be back in Vancouver. They had to pick up and move to Oregon for last season to keep the franchise alive. Andy talked about the state of the Nat. There has been a lot of upgrades after not being used for so long. Just seeing the exterior painted really brings the stadium back to life. Talked about the changes that have been made to the franchise as far as MiLB is concerned. Talked about some prospects that could make their way through Vancouver. Talked about the response to tickets. Every full-season club has a difficult time selling tickets in April and May. Once summer comes, there will be no problem.

NHL Insider and Host of Ray and Dregs, Darren Dreger, joined the show in his regular spot. Talked about the GM meetings that just wrapped up. Talked about LTIR and how it’s being used as a tool. Dregs talked about what he took away from that. Says that 10-12 GM’s have been talking about it for quite some time. Talked about the botched Dadanov trade. Was embarrassing to the NHL. Most would be surprised to know that central registry doesn’t keep track of NMC. They will now, though… They can’t go through this again. Talked about Eugene Melnyk. The speculation will be endless about what will happen with the club.
Jeff Paterson was on with Matt and Blake in his normal time to talk Canucks. Talked about the season that was for Nils Höglander, after it was announced he was likely out for the rest of the season. The hope was his rookie year was the baseline for him. That just didn’t happen. He is a guy loaded with skill but didn’t see enough of it in his 2nd season in the NHL. Talked about Boudreau and his eagle eyed view of the out of town scoreboard.
