Wed April 30th 1997 QueerCorps CKUT -fm Montreal Radio show hosts a fundraiser at Club Hommes in the Gay Village (formerly the infamous Kox) entitled Our Little Girl is All Grown UP - The Ellen Coming Out Episode Party.  The Ellen Degeneres Coming Out episode was screened on big screens - also comedians and CKUT djs!!!

Before Pat Dillon Moore became known as Sistah P, she was also known as The Empress, and was the station manager at CKUT from 1992 -96.  The tactical squad was the tri-fecta of Pat Dillon (aka the Dread-head), Louise Burns (aka the Redhead) and Sarah Toy (aka The Bedhead).  The piece was produced by Prime Time, CKUT Production Coordinator circa 1996 - 2003.  It features the voices of  John Braithwaite, Rawls , Gordon Kreiger, Mikey Don, Khalid M'Seffar, Margo Lane, Howard 'Stretch' Carr, Detroit Burns, Richard Iton and more.

Buju Banton’s fourth album Til Shiloh was a massive hit. He played the now defunct Montreal Medley in March 1996 and came by CKUT for an interview with Butcher T. This was not the first time he performed in Montreal nor came to the station . CKUT refused to co-present the Buju Banton the first concert back in 93? because of the song (written by Buju when he was 15) Boom Bye Bye and its homophobic lyrics. A decision which still, to date, causes a lot of discussion. The next time he came to CKUT (prior to a concert at the Medley in 95(?)) one of our programmers, Dave Austin, brought their class to the station so the studio was filled with enthusiastic pre-teens. Buju came out of a car wearing roller blades and rolled into the studios – much to the shrieking delight of everyone. This interview happening on Butcher T’s Noon Time Cuts. We left in a few ads at the end for extra flavor.

CKUT 90.3fm a campus/community radio station in Montreal, has been on the air since 1987. This is a collection of some interviews and audio selections from our past.

The all female Seattle band talk on their problem with being labeled a Riot Grrrl band, their experiences after the death of their guitarist, and some of the incidents while on tour in Europe and the American South. Listen to the origins of the band's most lyrically intense songs "Dead Men Don't Rape". The band explains their on-going struggle to have people critique them for being an all female band rather than their lyrics or music.

Ian Stephens poet, founding member of Montreal band Wining Dining & Drilling, aids activist (whose life was cut short by the disease in 1996), also regular contributor to QueerCorps on CKUT. This promo is priceless - captures what we could get away with on community radio in the 90s if you were creative enough to explore the opportunity.

Roots Rock Reggae is still on the air today - same time slot, Monday morning (Sunday overnight) 1am - 4am. And they still get a lot of callers and offer relationship advice, gossip, and lots of reggae music check them out.
