Welcome back to ClanDestine Café. In this episode Jacq Ellem sits down for coffee with Vikki and Lindy to talk about the differences between writing true crime and crime fiction, how one informs the other, and how satisfying it is to push a fictional bad guy off a cliff.
Vikki Petraitis is a ridiculously hard-working and prolific writer. She’s the author of 14 true crime books; two crime novels, and counting, featuring the fabulous Antigone Pollard; and several true crime podcasts for Casefile.
Lindy Cameron is the author of four crime novels, an action thriller, a sf novella and a few short stories. She’s currently writing a Trojan War novel. She is a founding member, and current Vice President of Sisters in Crime Australia; and the Publisher of Clan Destine Press.
Welcome to the first gathering in the ClanDestine Café where Jacq talks to Narrelle and Steve about words and the love of editing, and where we also learn about writing a crime novel in a motorhome – in the middle of a cyclone.
Narrelle Harris - Melbourne writer, book editor and Sherlock Holmes nerd – is the author of a host of short stories, and 12 novels the latest is The She-Wolf of Baker Street; and editor or co-editor of several Sherlock-themed anthos; and one horror one.
Stephen Johnson – Auckland-residing expat Aussie, ex-journalist, and international motorhome traveller – is the author of two crime series, the four-book and counting Melbourne Spotlight mysteries; and the forthcoming Rebecca Cashmore series.
A little tease for our forthcoming podcast dedicated to books, banter and shameless name-dropping.
