Right now it seems so much gets blamed on social media, but Internet Trolls are not new. They have been around for a long long time. This is episode 1 of a 3 part series on how to navigate social media as an educator and parent.

I just finished my first year as a VP at a new site after being a VP at his site for the previous 4 years. We talk about the goods, the bads, lessons learned and advice for other educators transitioning to an admin role.
In this extended episode, I spend some time chatting with Vernon Renwanz. He is a retired administrator who spent his entire career building up students and staff. Vernon shares his thoughts on what parents should know about the educational system, how to develop new leaders and his one big change of education. He is full of wisdom and this was one of my favorite episodes to date.

There is so much going on right now in the world and on school campuses. Shootings, walkouts, bullying, hatred, division to name some of the bad stuff. But simple kindness can cure a lot.
Sometimes we need to slow down for the benefit of long-term gain. A quick a thought on how accelerating academic (Honors, Pre-AP, IB, Advanced) courses in middle school can be a negative thing.
