This is the second pressing of the Crests' very first single. "My Juanita" is a to-die-for example of late 1950's uptempo doo-wop. Note that the group's name is spelled "Crest's" on this release. Note: This beautiful copy has very nearly Mint labels. The vinyl looks Near Mint, but the audio has light surface noise, grading a strong EX.

Here's a beautiful original 1966 pressing of a single I've been hunting forever... The audio is truly Wow! ... even though there is a light touch of surface noise near the beginning. (Have a listen to the mp3 snippet I couldn't resist adding to the Classic 45s Jukebox!) By the way, this was a non-album single until a 1969 album was released for Taylor. Note: This copy, on the light blue Checker label, comes in a vintage Chess/Checker Records factory sleeve (see scan). The labels and vinyl grade very close to Mint in appearance, and the audio is Near Mint as well.

The hit A side is a delightful pop tune, but the real treasure here is the B side. (Yes, it's another one of those!) If you've ever felt a little awkward and out of place at a party, you'll know just what she's talking about! One of Mitchell's very best pieces of pure poetry... have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear what I mean. It's also one of those very short songs I sing the praises of — she sings an entire volume in under 2 1/2 minutes! Credited to "Eric Burdon & The Animals," this is the group's finest foray into psychedelic rock. Every time I hear the opening guitar growl, it's obvious where Black Sabbath got the inspiration for the similar opening growl to "Iron Man." Now in the Classic 45's jukebox, cause it's one of those nuggets that just doesn't get played often enough. The big mystery to me is why Dave Marsh left it off his list of the 1,001 greatest 45s of Rock'n'Soul. It would definitely be on my list (if I ever make one!) For one thing, this is a single that was not included on any contemporary Animals album — this was a previously unreleased, non-LP single. The two sides eventually got added to an Animals compilation CD, but you won't find them anywhere on vinyl (to my knowledge) except on this little 45 record. (And may I say how incredible the audio is? Stunning doesn't come close!) Note: This beautiful copy has a drillhole and comes in a vintage MGM Records factory sleeve. This is one seriously great dance number, with a powerful sense of menace that you don't normally find in Disco music... Which is why I've decided to put it in the Philly Soul genre instead. No matter... it's a must-have 1975 rarity. The flip is an instrumental version, which is also terrific. Group is New York duo Mike Felder (guitar) and Bill Daniels (piano). They didn't make an album, just a couple of singles, which is why you won't find this tune in Apple Music, Spotify, or other primarily-album-based services. This is the very rare first pressing... It was later picked up and released by Arista and had some minor chart success. Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
