With the upcoming presidential race in the USA, American consumers understand that we cannot continue to remain dependent upon fossil fuels. In order to truly become sustainable and energy independent, we need to invest and incorporate renewable energy technology into our lives. There is a lot to be learned from what other countries are doing so that consumers can become renewable energy independent instead of shifting from source of energy dependence to another. For example, in Germany, a portion of its renewable energy comes directly from citizens, family farms and small businesses. This is creating true energy independence and sustainability. Although the technology is available in the USA,  this concept has a long way to go before it becomes mainstream in the USA.
