  • Climbing With Scars #32: When nothing goes your way
On this episode of Climbing With Scars, I talk about what to do when things don't go your way. Over my many years in business, I have had several times where nothing seemed to go my way, however, there are things people need to remember, when faced with this situation. It is very easy to give up, but this should not be an option. If we were to give up everytime something did not go our way we would never succeed in anything. Tune in to this weeks episode to hear my take on this topic, as well as my experiences and stories I share with you.

  • Climbing With Scars #31: Being wrong, a hard pill to swallow
One thing I have failed with in the past, and I believe others seem to comprehend is being wrong. Most people are very proud of themselves and eveyrhting they do, however, find it hard to accept being wrong. People need to understand that there is no problem with being wrong and need to view this matter in a different perspective. A great quote by the extremely intelligent Neil DeGrasse Tyson once said 'I love being wrong because that means in that instant, I learned something new that day'. This a look that we should learn to have, a much more positive view and acceptance of not always being right. In this episode of Climbing With Scars, I share som early stories of how I use to have problems with this topic and how we should deal with it when face with being wrong.

  • Climbing With Scars #28: How we deal with anger
Anger is the most negative emotion that a person can experience and will never result in a positive outcome. Over my career in business there has been many times that I have had things happen to me that have really fire me up, but overtime I have learnt how to control this side of my feelings. One of the problems I often found with it, is that when leaving work seeing my family I would bring whatever had happened at work into my home, which is not fair on my kids and wife. • Climbing With Scars #27: Why business schools don't prepare students
Students are in thousands of dollars in debt when finishing uni, in particular business schools, but are they teaching future entrepreneurs the right skills when entering the workforce. However, what our school and uni systems are forgetting to teach their students are the skills that are needed that are not theoretical. Skills like public speaking, the work ethic necessary to succeed and being able to grind through the hard times, are aspects that students are not being prepared for. This topic has cam apparent to me recently due to one of my workers who is currently studying at uni and has been telling me about the different things he gets taught. This is when I realised what they were missing out on. To hear more about this topic, tune in to this week episode of Climbing With Scars.

  • Climbing With Scars #26: Overcoming distractions
At the ripe age of 23 I had began my journey in the business world partnering up with my father to help run Gripset. A major problem that always found myself facing were the amount of distractions for a young 23 year old. Having many friends that were either studying or working a standard nine to five job each week, they often had no committments on the weekend allowing them to still go out and party often. However, due to my committments helping my father run a business I often found myself having to reject these offers to go out drinking and focus on putting in the grind to succeed. Although, I do believe you need a work-life balance, but when taking on a role of business owner a lot of scarfices are needed. To hear more about the distarctions i have had in my life and how I have overcome them, tune in to this weeks episode of Climbing With Scars.

  • Climbing With Scars #25: When to stop and move forward
One of the hardest challenges I have experienced over the past 25 years in business is knowing when to stop. I have always felt that by “calling it a day” I was quitting and giving up, even taking the easy way out. Many times, I found myself persisting with a product or system that was either not working or customers were not connecting with. Being a proud person, I never believed in stopping and giving up, but it came to a point when I realised what I was doing was not working. This skill of knowing when to stop, although does not seem complicated, has been a difficult skill to learn. Today I feel I have learnt this skill  well and it has helped me focus on moving the business forward. To hear more about this topic, tune into episode 25 of Climbing With Scars.
