  • Climbing With Scars #24: The value of mentors
When first entering the business world, I often had mentors and people who inspired me to accomplish great things. Now, after over 20 years in the industry I still have mentors and people who inspire me to do even greater things. The major difference between when I first entered and now, are the type of people who I look up to. Watching young kids go out and give it a go and on the grind is such an inspiring piece for me. I do think it is great to have a mentor, as it can give you a boost of inspiration seeing what others are accomplishing in their life, having the courage to share their experinces good, bad and ugly and  learning from someone else's reality. Tune in to this week’s episode of Climbing With Scars to hear more about my mentors and my thoughts on the topic.

  • Climbing With Scars #18: How delivering a message can impact your daily life
Delivering a message to somebody is extremely important in several different scenarios. We must understand that, there are specific things we should keep in mind when delivering these messages. Often when interviewing people for specific job positions, the interviewee will talk about what makes them the best fit, or what they want from the job, but must understand this is not always what the interviewer is looking for in a person. Instead looking for someone who shows the urgency to be the best at their job and show some character, by either showing interest in the business or even coming prepared with new ideas they have. There are many other examples of times we are delivering a message, but are not expressing it in a way to suit the receiver. This is why we must try understand our audience when delivering those important messages to bosses, clients or customers and change our delivery stance best suiting the environement.

  • Climbing With Scars #17: Excuses - how we let them get in the way.
Excuses are one of those things we say and do to give ourselves permission to not challenge, drive and be the best we can be, making an excuse is the easy way out. Sometimes using them to create a shield from the truth, rather than looking at what has really happened and making changes. On this weeks episode of Climbing With Scars, as well as sharing some past stories and experiences of times I have seen these excuses be used to cover things up, I will share how I moved past making excuses and held myself accountable for being and doing what has allowed me to move forward and excuses no longer stop me (99% of the time, certainly not perfect) Make sure you tune in and don’t miss this weeks episode, because it’s a ripper.
