Michelle and Emily welcome two-time Emmy award-winning news producer and filmmaker, Hollie Brubaker, to the podcast. After a brief discussion on what exactly is Lychee, they jump into a fascinating and engaging discussion about Hollie's short film, "But You'd Be a Great Mom!". Hollie shares her intimate, personal journey through fertility treatments to trying to become a foster parent, to accepting and embracing her life without children. They talk about how society perception of women as only being true, whole women when they have children.
They explore the pitfalls of medical science in infertility treatment and how people feel they HAVE to do it because it is available. Hollie shares a list of physical and emotional pains that people often experience during treatment and the pressure of it's all worth it because you have to do everything to have a baby.
They talk about the expectations society puts on women regarding having children and how scary it is to walk the path that differs from the expectations.
As Hollie says, "There is so much beauty in the world, that we get to be a part of in life and how dare we look at others and say I want that instead of looking at our own lives and relishing in what is beautiful about our lives."
They wrap the episode taking stock of what is beautiful in their lives. Send us an email of what you find beautiful in your life! [email protected]
