A healthy vaginal microbiome is dominated by beneficial bacteria like lactobacilli, which produce lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide, creating a protective barrier that prevents pathogens from thriving and safeguarding the reproductive organs.

Disruption in the balance of the vaginal microbiome can lead to conditions such as bacterial vaginosis (BV) and other forms of dysbiosis. BV, the most common vaginal infection, affects 30% of women at any given time.
