This is the staning or falling Doctrine of the Church or the Christian.

The Lord has made a difference between the work of elders and the work of deacons. The elders are all about people, while the deacons are all about practical needs in the church.

The Lord made every plan to die for His people. Each event in the week of his crucifixion was marked with determinatation to go to the cross. The Lord was surrendered to die for us-

Peter's question in this text - Matthew 19-27 - sets us into right thinking as we bring this year to a close.--Peter's question was- -What shall we have therefore.--- This is the first time that this question has been posed to the Lord so directly. The disciples left all and followed the Lord. Already they had made many sacrifices to be followers of the Lord Jesus.-- They knew it was the right thing to do. They knew it would cost them, but now after the Lord spent considerable time talking about the rich and the obstacles they face as disciples dedicated to following the Lord.--The Lord doesn't rule out the rich. He states that it is much more difficult to give up great earthly riches than for the ordinary person who has fewer things typing him to this life.

Christmas Eve

Our title for this sermon is straight out of the text- A Merciful and Faithful High priest. This is our Lord Jesus. He is the embodiment of these two qualities as our Lord and Saviour.-To accomplish this end--He had to be made like unto His people. -It behoved him to be made like unto his brethren.-- It required a human body - perfectly human.- That is the miracle of the incarnation we are celebrating at Christmas,-This is the reason for the Season.- The apostle argues-- He did not take the nature of angels - that would be much less.- He took the nature of the children of Abraham.-So, the Lord came down, down, down, from glory.

This evening we will look at the honour given to the virgin Mary. She was truly a very special and unique case in all of Scripture and the history of the world, and what happened to her will never be repeated. Jesus, the Son of God, has now a human body that is eternally united to His divine nature. The twain shall never be parted. Christ will for evermore be the God-man, and so be the perfect Head of the church and that for all eternity.
