Adult Type 1 Diabetes in Primary Care
In this 'on demand' session' Dr Alexia Abela, Consultant Diabetologist & Endocrinologist in Primary Care, will be going through many aspects of management related to type 1 diabetes in the primary care setting.
The aim is that, after viewing this session you will have improved your knowledge and gain confidence in managing type 1 diabetics.
You will learn about the pathophysiology and diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, Pharmacological characteristics of available insulins, insulin Carbohydrate ratios, insulin Sensitivity factors and how these interplay with maintenance of blood glucose, Insulin pumps and Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion, blood glucose monitoring as well as complications such as hypoglycaemia and diabetic ketoacidosis.
