The vote comes after Fauci, who served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times during a committee hearing last week.

Today’s vote could initiate a process that would result in the Justice Department considering whether to charge him with a crime.

Investigations are underway into how a commercial jet full of passengers got too close to the military helicopter carrying President Donald Trump, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday.

The Marine One helicopter took off from the Ellipse just south of the White House on Tuesday afternoon, but air traffic at nearby Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport continued for a couple of minutes afterward, according to a CNN review of air-traffic control audio captured by ATC.com.

An armed man was arrested outside Trump National Golf Club in Southern California on Sunday after federal agents reported someone suspicious walking the property just days before a visit by the president, authorities said.

The Secret Service is investigating whether the person, who was caught with ammunition and a public telephone number for the White House while apparently taking pictures and videos of the federal agents’ security-planning activities, posed a threat to President Donald Trump, a federal law enforcement source told CNN.

There was no immediate indication the person – identified by sheriff’s deputies as Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey – was plotting an attack on the president, the source added, noting the investigation was ongoing.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi denied Wednesday that Iran is currently negotiating with the US over the Strait of Hormuz.
