Today, I'm excited to be joined by Coach Mike Winters. Mike Winters has spent 18 seasons as a varsity basketball coach at Oregon, Rockford Jefferson, Rock Falls, Boylan Catholic and Machesney Park Harlem in the state of Illinois.
His career record is 357-164 (.687 win percentage), and he opened his career with 14 consecutive winning seasons. He has led three different programs to the State Tournament (SuperSectional or beyond).
Coach Winters has also been named the IBCA District Coach of the Year seven times and was the Sauk Valley Newspapers Coach of the Year in 2006 and the NIC-10 Coach of the Year in 2016.
Coach Winters has coached players who have gone on to play D1 at schools like Minnesota, Kansas State, New Orleans, Florida A & M, Evansville, Southeast Missouri, Ball State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, University of Illinois-Chicago, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Air Force and many others who have competed at the Division II, Division III and JUCO levels.
Mike Winters has been heard on more than 300 radio stations across the country. This includes the top talk station in Chicago, WGN, as well as other top shows in major markets such as Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, San Diego, Tampa, Vegas, and more thanks to the National Show, This Morning with Gordon Deal. Big media brands that have featured Coach Winters include iHeart Media, Audacy Radio (Formerly Entercom/CBS) and USA Radio Network. He has also been featured on numerous podcasts around the globe.
Coach Winters is also the author of the book "The Journey: Lessons from the Hardwood" which was released in the August of 2021.

Jason has more than 15 years of experience coaching basketball at the college and high school level and has lived on the sidelines and in the locker rooms working to build teams and inspire athletes. His mission is to build authentic relationships with his players so that he could have an impact on their lives beyond the basketball court.
More recently, Jason founded MaxOne to be a platform that makes coaches' lives easier and helps them use technology to have a bigger impact on the lives of their athletes
