Hello All!
This is ๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ฏ๐ต (๐ฆ๐ฏ:๐๐ฏ๐ฌ)
We finish the 3rd Book of Moses, Leviticus, for the 3rd time together! Exciting stuff!
So, what gets you angry?
What are the things in your life that trigger your wrath, rage, and fury?
Is it always true?
Does the same situation or person ALWAYS make you angry or is it sometimes but not others?
If so, why?
Why do you get angry at all? What's at the root of it?
We know in the bible that Moses gets angry and that even God shows anger, too.
It does not appear to be a sin, but what can we make of it?
So join me this week as we explore: ๐๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ฟ
^ What makes us angry?
^ What are the tactics and strategies that we can use to manage, reduce or even rid ourselves of anger?
Happy Learning!

This is Episode 138 (S3:E29)
Our topic of the week: On Unexpected Opportunity
I think we all have an idea about the direction of our lives.
We go to school. Major in a particular subject. Get a job. Move up. Try to make some money. Pay for life. Maybe meet someone along the way. Build a family. Make a home. Etc
It's a well-beaten path. We 'know' how it's supposed to go.
But what happens when it doesn't go that way? What happens when life gets in the way?
What happens when 'Option A' is no longer and you have to live 'Option B'?
Let's go one step further: what if you have to choose to live 'Option B' rather than having some circumstance dictate it for you? Ie it's your doing, your choice...
It's hard. Yet, we see it all the time.
How do you cope? What are the mechanisms you use to move forward?
Is there an alternative way to see it? Can you see it as what could be considered an 'unexpected opportunity' or a 'second chance'?
Does that change anything? Our mindest or our actions? Our level of happiness?
We go there by deviating a bit from the portion of the week and talking about an event that took place thousands of years ago on this date (Hebrew date) known as the 'Second Passover.'
Happy Learning!
'Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that...'
- Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr

Hi all!
I got a bit of a late start in prepping this week. Sorry about that!
This week, Episode 137 (S3:E28)
Our topic: On Hating Others
Hate is a terrible thing. It impacts us all, and only negatively. It hurts our bodies, minds and souls. It kills relationships and destroys societies.
Yet, we all have experienced and likely have felt some form of it (maybe even right now).
While we can't cover all of this subject in one episode, this week we'll focus on our hating of other people.
* Why we do it
* What it does to us
* A set of tactics and strategies to reduce if not remove the hate we may feel.
I am super curious to learn how you deal with hate in your own lives, so drop a comment and let me know a strategy, an approach, or a way forward.
Happy Learning!
'I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. Iโll put it before any of the things like courage, or bravery, or generosity, or anything elseโฆ Kindnessโthat simple word. To be kindโit covers everything, to my mind. If youโre kind thatโsย it.'
--Roald Dahl
----------------------------
So, when was the last time you did a random act of kindness for someone?
Or
When was the last time you could have acted kindly for someone and didn't?
This week... Episode 136 (S3:E27): On Kindness
We are continuing our work on The Ethics of the Fathers. This week chapter 2
It is true that 'Kindness begets kindness.'
The question we want to work on is 'How do I become a kinder person'?
That's a real question for me as I don't think of myself as the kindest guy around (I can admit that about myself...I'm working on it!), and I often feel that I am not aware of the opportunities for greater kindness that are around me...
and maybe for you too...

'While I made my living as a coach, I have lived my life to be a mentor- and to be mentored!-constantly. Everything in the world has been passed down. Every piece of knowledge is something that has been shared by someone else. If you understand it as I do, mentoring becomes your true legacy. It is the greatest inheritance you can give to others. It is why you get up every day- to teach and be taught.'
-- Johnย Wooden
---------------------------------------------------
Hi all!
Welcome back! I hope you had a great great holiday.
Quick question as always to get us started:
^ Who do you consider 'mentors' in your life?
Ok, what makes those individuals a mentor vs being a teacher or a coach? Is there a difference?
^ What value have they brought to your life/ impact have they had on you?
This week, in Episode 135 (S3:E26), we'll begin a conversation on Mentors.
We'll take a detour from the portion of the week and dip our toes in the classic work known as 'Ethics of the Fathers', a tractate of the Mishna that quotes hundreds of what you might call 'mottos', 'words to live by' or in the modern day, 'personal hashtags' of the most famous sages from the 1st thru (approx) 4th century.
As always, happy learning, and let me know what I missed and should have discussed.
'I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind'
--Antoine de Saint-Exupรฉry
-----------------------------------------------
As always a question to start with:
* Where in your life do you experience the most freedom?
--> Is that while at work or at play?
--> Is that while reading and studying or on a run?
If we dipped our toe into slavery last week, then this week: Freedom.
This is Episode 134 (S3:E25)
* How do we develop a greater sense of freedom in our lives?
* What are the actionable steps we can take today to have more freedom, and perhaps more importantly, what would that mean for me?
* What would that look like or feel like?
Happy Learning and Happy Holidays Everyone!
'Mental slavery is the worst form of Slavery. It gives you the illusion of freedom, makes you trust, love and defend your oppressor while making an enemy of those who are trying to free you or open your eyes!'
--Unknown
-----------------------------------------
What are the things in life that hold you back?
^ Is it your past bad experience?
^ Maybe it's something someone once said to you and it stuck.
^ Maybe it was just something negative that you began to think about yourself and now it's 'true'?
All 3 statements/questions belong to a category of negative self-talk related to 'limiting beliefs.'
You are, on some level, suffering from a 'slavery of the mind'.
It is true that even after a person is physically no longer a slave to anyone or anything he or she can and likely still is mentally enslaved by whatever it was.
Take the story of the people of Israel upon their leaving Egypt. They were no longer slaves. They were physically free. How about in their mind and their soul? Were they 'there' yet?
Mental slavery or as others call it psychological slavery is something that holds so many of us back from achieving great success in our lives.
Let's explore as we continue our series on 'Coaching With The Seder'
This is Episode 133 (S3:E24)
Our topic: On Slavery

'Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life.'
--ย J.D.ย Stroube
-----------------------------------------------------
Well, if last week we spoke about questions then this week is obviously going to be about answers!
This is Episode 132 (S3:E23)
Our topic: On Answers
As much as the Passover Seder IS about questions as we discussed last week, it is ALSO about sharing timeless and timely answers.
They are the kinds of answers that have connected with us from the beginning and still hit home with us today.
But, how do we (generally speaking) go about answering questions?
What is our approach? Do we have one? Perhaps we don't...yet
And
Curious: When was the last time 'I don't know' was your answer to a question?
Enjoy and Happy Learning!

Feedback, please! Let me know how I'm doing, how I can improve, or what subjects you'd like to hear about! Thanks!
โTo ask is to believe that somewhere there is an answer. The fact that throughout history people have devoted their lives to extending the frontiers of knowledge is a compelling testimony to the restlessness of the human spirit and its constant desire to go further, higher, deeper. Far from faith excluding questions, questions testify to faith โ that history is not random, that the universe is not impervious to our understand, that what happens to us is not blind chance. We ask, not because we doubt, but because we believe.โ
--Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

This is Episode 131 (S3:E22)
Our topic of the week: On Questions
-------------------------------------
When was the last time a question that someone asked you stopped you in your tracks? Left you speechless? Without an answer?
Now, the opposite.
When was the last time you asked a jaw-dropping question of someone else? Not to embarrass or make them feel bad, but more so to draw out a new perspective or a different answer.
In coaching, I get to ask a lot of people a lot of questions and then have great conversations about goals, success, failure, process, blockages, mindset, and more.
It's one of the more interesting and gratifying parts of the work.
But how about you? What questions do you ask? What questions are you asked?
The questions move us forward and give us the opportunity to challenge, to rethink, to unlock and to grow all at the same time.
This week, we talk a bit about the questions and forget about the answers for a while.
Happy Learning!
'There are no small parts, only small actors.'
- Konstantin Stanislavskiย
--------------------------------------------------
Q: In which relationships in your life are you 'the lead' and in which are you a 'supporter actor' or a 'bit player'?ย
I know, seems like an odd question, but the truth is that at every moment we are managing different roles for different people in our lives.
This week we go deeper into the idea that it's ok at times to not be 'the lead' and that the smaller role we play is not actually small at all.
The key for us is appreciating when and where we lead and where we don'tย
ANDย
perhaps equally as important is appreciating who is now or has in the past played those roles for us.
This is episode 130 (S3:E21)
Our topic: On Supporting Roles
