Fresh off the back of his trip to the United Nations in New York where Australia recognised Palestinian statehood, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has welcomed Donald Trump's proposal to end the war in Gaza. 

Shadow Attorney-General, Julian Leeser, says he also sees "hope" in the plan, describing it as "important" and one the Coalition supports.
