Abram is an absolute bonehead with Sarai. And together they experience profound suffering because of Abram's mistakes and fear, and the decisions of others.

Jesus gives up his greatness so that he can make us great; he blesses us even when we're his enemies, even when we disobey and scorn His name—that's when he chooses us, to bless us, to take our sin and our consequences on His own shoulders. These truths—these promises—start in Genesis with Abram and Sarai.

What we believe about God will determine how we view ourselves. What we believe about ourselves will determine how we view God.

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. He's our Resurrection. He can take away all our death. Jesus is our Life—he can provide what we're really looking for.
