What does heaven look like? It's looks like the Feast of the Father—where we are welcomed home, celebrated, and encouraged. This then gives us a very simple job description as Christians...receive the love of God and then give it away, just like the Father does with the Younger Brother.

Why does Jesus paint a picture of a lousy Elder Brother in this parable? Because he wants us to long for a True Elder Brother.

Jesus confronts the Elder Brothers in his midst by telling the parable of an Elder Brother who is totally lost. We can be lost in our rebellion. We can also be lost in trying to save ourselves by doing everything right.
