What kind of legacy, in the small things, do you want to leave? “The story of Ruth is the story of hesed—loving kindness-motivating beyond the letter of the law. Without this compassionate regard for others that exceeds the lost requirement, there is no story of Ruth.” The same is true with Jesus: with no hesed—loving faithfulness—that extends beyond the law—that Jesus would die for us sinners even though we do not deserve it, that Jesus would grant to us His right standing with God and give us His Spirit from now until all eternity—there is no salvation, no hope, no forgiveness, no joy, no church…for you and I.
