Welcome to another MOVIE CLUB: a special series where Hunter and Nikki discuss movies both past and present from their faith perspectives. On this episode, they discuss the 1998 Jim Carrey film The Truman Show. They wonder if Truman is free, discuss whether Christof is the devil or God, and hypothesize about the first thing Truman did when he left Seahaven. 

All this and discussions about the state of modern movies, Japanese reality television, Hunter’s emotional connection to the Truman Show, and how hard it is to get tickets for the Odyssey!

What do Chubby Checker, Bad Bunny, and The Sixth Sense have in common? Very little, as a matter of fact. But what does the Old Testament have in common with the New Testament? QUITE A LOT.

That's exactly what Hunter and Family Theologian Andrew Faris talk about this week on the Coastline Podcast. As we finish up the Old Testament portion of our podcast, we wanted to talk about how we're going to talk about the New Testament. Andrew dives into the idea of typology, how our New Testament authors understood the Old Testament, and how you can read your Bible with both Testaments in mind (and why that's a great thing).

Programming Note: on next week's episode, Hunter and Nikki are talking about The Truman Show ! We'll begin the New Testament reading plan the following week.

Hunter welcomes Lloyd Gilbert on the podcast to talk about the ending of the Old Testament. They discuss God's language being time, slowness vs. silence, and the way that the story of the Old Testament gives us meaning.
