  • Programming Note!

  • Hope on the Horizon

Hunter and Garrick talk about HOPE. They define it, talk about hope in our culture, hope in the Bible, and the hope found in Ezekiel 36-37 and Isaiah 40-43. But if you are also hoping for a conversation about Taylor Swift's wedding, John Grisham, and anxious dogs... look no further!

  • When the Worst Thing Happens

The destruction promised throughout the prophets is finally here: the fall of Jerusalem. Hunter and Nikki talk about the devastation, the pain, and the trauma. They also discuss the ways in which God is with us in the big and small struggles, and the ways in which community helps when pain is present.

However... the first 15 minutes is them talking about emo music. If you want to skip that, skip to about minute 15.

For the next episode, make sure you have read Ezekiel 36-37; Isaiah 40-43

  • Prophetic Justice: Hosea, Amos, Micah, and Isaiah

    WE. ARE. BACK.

After an unexpected delay, the Coastline Covenant Podcast is BACK with a MAJOR conversation about MINOR prophets. Hunter and Shawn talk about justice, the role of the prophet in the Old Testament and today, politics (!!), and healthy civic engagement. Allegedly, the reading for today Hosea, Amos, Micah, and Isaiah but they mostly use that as context for everything they discuss. Can’t overstate how awesome this conversation is. Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose.

  • 1st Quarter Check-In: The Pentateuch

We made it past the first quarter! To commemorate, Family Theologian Andrew Faris joins Hunter to check in, answer questions, and talk about a lot of random things. Andrew talks about coaching little league, the framing questions of the Pentateuch, how we see the themes of the Torah in the entire Bible,  the point of the story up until this point, and compound interest. Hunter talks about Nephilim, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and obscure (but apropos) basketball knowledge. Are you interested in an early morning book club? Let us know!

If you haven’t been following along or if you’ve fallen behind or if you just want a fun listen with a lot of depth, we cannot recommend this episode enough.

For the next episode, make sure you have read Joshua 1-4 and Joshua 24.

  • The Wilderness

Nikki returns to the podcast to help us wrap up the story of Moses in Numbers and Deuteronomy. She and Hunter talk about their happy places, West Virginia, being wrong, and the perfect imperfections of our stories. But, on a more serious note, they discuss Numbers (not that many numbers, but still a lot of numbers), Deuteronomy (underrated, emotional), and Psalm 90 (sad).

However, the main focus of this episode is the idea of the wilderness. It’s figurative, it’s literal, it’s brutal, but it’s beautiful at the same time. The wilderness is a prominent theme in the Bible, and it is also a prominent reality in our lives. Nikki (as always) has great insight and helps this first quarter (!!) of the podcast come to a close.

Join us next week for a special week where Andrew joins Hunter for a Pentateuch wrap-up!
