The signs are part of pushback on a new Texas law

Krishna and others are testing the limits, and the logic, of SB 797, a recently adopted Texas law that requires public schools to display a poster bearing the U.S. motto, "In God We Trust." The law's main requirements are that the posters include the state and U.S. flags, and that schools don't pay for them.

"The statute does not contemplate requiring the district to display more than one copy at a time," Bryan said in a video recording of the meeting. But Krishna disagreed, saying the law doesn't refer to how many posters should be displayed.

"It doesn't say you have to stop at one," he said. "So that is your decision to stop at one."

"I think it's kind of un-American to reject posters of our national motto," Krishna told the board members.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. —

Douglas County prosecutors have charged a Ralston man with the sexual assault of a minor.

Investigators say 27-year-old John Channels forced a child to perform sex acts on him when the victim was 12- to 13-years-old.

Investigators say up until 2021, Channels encouraged the child to send him explicit photos.

The affidavit claims investigators found "provocative" pictures of the victim on Channel's iPad.

Prosecutors also charged him with sexually explicit conduct.

Douglas County officials confirm that he worked at Offutt Air Force Base as a civilian in the security police force.

Channels is in jail on a $100,000 bond and is expected back in court in July.

Trump's initial suit drew criticism from legal experts online for failing to include exhibits or sworn statements, and for airing Trump's grievances with the Russia probe. 

'The Government has long treated President Donald J. Trump Unfairly,' reads one subject heading in the lawsuit. 

The Trump-appointed judge, who was confirmed in 2020, last week pushed Trump's lawyers to clarify their basis for seeking a special master, asking them to show the 'precise relief sought.'

A plaque dedicated to the Ku Klux Klan at the West Point military academy has come under fire by a congressional panel dedicated to identifying and advising on the removal and renaming of Confederate-affiliated statues or buildings under the Department of Defense.

The bronze mounted marker bearing the words "Ku Klux Klan" below a hooded figure appears as one piece of a triptych at the entrance of a building on campus. The marker falls outside the task of the Naming Commission, since it is focused on Confederacy-related matters.

However, the group said there are "clearly" ties in the KKK to the confederacy and advised the Department of Defense to consider creating a process to remove such memorials.

Ryann McEnany, the sister of Donald Trump's former White House press secretary and Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, announced the September debut of a dating app for conservatives called The Right Stuff.

The website declares the app is "for those who know traditional is attractive" and urges potential users to "connect with people who aren't offended by everything."

"What I love most about it is that it's invite only so not just anyone can join," McEnany, who worked as a social media strategist for Trump's 2020 presidential campaign, says in a video about the new dating app.

Recent torrential rain coupled with years of water system issues have resulted in a crisis in Jackson, Mississippi, where the city doesn't have enough water to fight fires, flush toilets or even hand out to residents in need.

Jackson's main water treatment facility began failing Monday, according to Gov. Tate Reeves. The National Guard was called up to help distribute bottled water as crews work to get the water treatment plant back online, state officials said.

But the distribution itself proved unsustainable. Residents of all ages were seen waiting in lines more than a mile long at Hawkins Field Airport for at least two hours Tuesday for just one case of bottled water. The event was supposed to span three hours, but barely ran two as people were eventually turned away when the 700 cases of water ran out.

"I keep saying we're going to be the next Michigan," said Jeraldine Watts, 86, who was able to get water at a grocery store Monday night. "And it looks like that's exactly what we're headed for."
