It was supposed to be good news, the joining of a beloved but beleaguered sports corporation and a heralded rapper in the name of entertainment and social justice.

Instead, it added fuel to an ongoing controversy.

On August 13, the NFL announced that it was entering a partnership with Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded and led by rapper and mogul Jay-Z. The deal, which has reportedly been in the works for several months, means that Roc Nation will now help “advise on selecting artists for major NFL performances like the Super Bowl.”

The Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals will not require proof of vaccination or negative COVID tests for attendees. Neither of the California festivals will require masks for their April events either, though face coverings are recommended for the dust.

Stagecoach, which will be held after Coachella’s two-weekend run at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, posted on social media Tuesday that the country festival had updated its attendance policies to reflect local guidelines. The health and safety page of the festival’s website further explains that there is an inherent risk of exposure to the contagious disease in any public place and that the event does not guarantee that those in attendance will not catch COVID.

MINNEAPOLIS — Protests continue across the Twin Cities nearly two weeks after the fatal shooting of Amir Locke by a Minneapolis police officer during a predawn, no-knock raid. Locke, a 22-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Feb. 2 as SWAT officers raided a downtown Minneapolis apartment to serve a warrant related to a homicide investigation in neighboring St. Paul.

Police were looking for Locke’s 17-year-old cousin and two others implicated in that killing, according to search warrants made public last week. Mekhi Speed, Locke’s cousin, was arrested and charged Feb. 8 with two counts of second-degree murder.

West continued: “You put security on me inside of the house to play with my son then accused me of stealing. I had to take a drug test after Chicago’s party cause you accused me of being on drugs.” West ended by calling out Tracy Romulus, a close friend and business partner of Kardashian’s, saying, “Stop manipulating Kim to be this way…”
