Let's kickoff the new year right! This week, Jon Jon Roberts returns to join me on a unique episode that I'm definitely interested in doing more of. We synced up our TVs from across the country and watched the 4th quarter of the final game of the NFL's regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Washington Football Team (RIP Redskins). With live reactions to the dumpster fire that was the end of this game, our analysis of the state of the sport coming into 2021, and high school football stories, this episode is everything football and we had a great time. Today I made another visit to Grand Lake to sit down with my good friend CJ. Since, I started working at the Marina last summer, he has become my go-to bro to hangout with. A true nomad, CJ has sailed the seas off the coast of Key West, Florida, travelled to a dozen countries and as soon as the lockdowns are lifted, wants to become a Safari guide in Africa. A topic we'll have to get to when we run it back. This recording came together after a chaotic week for the podcast, but in true fashion with a major theme of the last few weeks, Consistency was maintained, and Episode 19 is finally here. Enjoy!

The Sunshine Herb Corner is a locally owned, herb shop that focuses on providing healthy supplements that promote a proactive approach to one's health. They have an abundance of vitamins, mushrooms, various herbs, Eastern medicines and more. The owner, Jeanette Thompson has made herbs and supplements her life's passion and 10 years ago she turned her passion into a business. On today's episode, I sit down with the man behind LongLiveIb, Ibn Wilkerson. Ibn and I met through American Football Worldwide, an organization that promotes American football on an international scale. They recruit a team of seniors every year from across the country and take them on a trip abroad to play football games against teams from Italy, China, Ireland and more. Ibn played cornerback, receiver, and returned punts for us and I obviously held the kicking and punting duties for the team as well as defensive end. Ib had 2 big play touchdowns and I laid claim to the only sack in the game plus 5 solo tackles. This was a once in a lifetime experience that both of us will never forget and we're grateful for the opportunity to do something so unique. 

Now, almost 5 years later, Ibn has started his own YouTube channel, LongLiveIb, and has been making Call of Duty videos for the past month, as well as streaming live on YouTube and Twitch. Since we're both new at our respective forms of content creation, Ibn and I came to an important conclusion in our conversation that can and should be applied to all aspects of life: Consistency. Everything we do has the potential to become something great, but its potential drops to 0 if we stop what we're doing. CodyCast101 and LongLiveIb will never amount to anything if we stop uploading, but who knows what they could become if we upload every week for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years? Consistency + Passion = Success. Enjoy!

On the third installment of Catching Up w/, I sit down with one of my roommates from college, a teammate and upstanding friend Jon Jon Roberts. He is someone who has been very supportive of the podcast and I'm very exciting to bring to you all a guest I've really been looking forward to having on the show. Jon Jon played slot receiver, returned punts, and was the guy I backed up as the starting holder for the kickers on the team. Therefore, Jon Jon was an official member of the specialist squad for HC! Today we touched on a myriad of topics from our UFC fight nights at Hooters, his leadership role with Athlete Bible Study on campus, Greek Mythology, how to breed success with the mentality sports can provide for us and more. He played running back for 4 years and was someone who I considered to be an important leader during our Patriot League Championship run last season. In episode one of season two, I went hiking with my co-worker from the Marina. All day long we were wading through the smoke from East Troublesome fire and shortly after I left, the town was evacuated. Last week I returned to the place I thought was burned to the ground to again talk to Bradley Hilton. In this episode, Bradley tells his evacuation story. 

After a 6 hour hike up to Lone Pine Lake on the outskirts of Rocky Mountain National Park, I sat down with Bradley Hilton to reflect on the summer we spent working together at the Grand Lake Marina, society's increasing distance from our spirituality and connection with nature, how climate change is our civilization's biggest threat, and much more. Bradley grew up in Grand Lake, CO and has spent the last decade traveling the world and pioneering the fairly new sport of competitive stand up paddle boarding. He has competed in white water rivers all over the world and hosts guided adventures for anyone who is interested. 

The East Troublesome Fire has significantly shaken the community here, but as Bradley stated in the episode, fire is a natural process and it leaves new potential for life to flourish. In part 1, I left everyone off with a little teaser of whats to come in part 2. Before recording this podcast, Tubes and I discussed his immersion into Buddhism while in college. So, I thought that this topic, after already recording for an hour in part one, deserved its own hour of power. I personally have found mediation very beneficial for my mental health and I strongly suggest everyone to give it a try. Enjoy.
