Welcome to the Coffee Break Podcast! where we spend our time taking a little bit of a coffee break to engage on Child Support matters and all things related to Child Support. We introduce Melissa Rodriguez Senior Child Support Specialist, CSS from DCSS Riverside Indio (0:36) Nathan takes us to this episode’s topic (1:00) and the importance of the Debt Reduction Program and what will be covered. We start with what debt is (1:32) in child support and what is arrears, including a national overview. (3:30) The impact arrears has on a customer who owes the money is critical and the different ways it can affect them by specific system triggers. (4:34) A moment where it is shared how customers can be alleviated by the Debt Reduction Program. (5:06) Melissa shares about the New Debt Reduction Program and its historical name known as COAP (Compromise Of Arrears Program). The difference between the two programs and overview of benefits.
