Deaton Pigot's coffee is so off-the-charts good that Broadway star, Chelsea Morgan Stock, left it all behind for him (and for the bright lights of Hollywood)! :) Well, it wasn't that simple, but they did get hitched and have been inseparable in both life and coffee! A lot of love goes into their roasting company, TECTONIC COFFEE, which is why their coffee is so extraordinary and can be found in some of the best coffee shops around the country.
Now, they're facing the pandemic together, and just like everyone else, are working to overcome the incredible challenges. But they're going above and beyond; bringing coffee and happiness to those who really need it - from giving it away, changing their business around and even hand delivering it when they have to! They tell us how they're doing it all while supporting themselves and others.

The notes at the bottom of a coffee bag is your guide to finding the perfect tasting coffee. But those notes also can be elusive when you're actually drinking the coffee!
So we decided to test the flavors of some of the top roasters' coffees by combining the notes into an edible concoction and then blind tasting them to see if they truly work together. Sounds "delicious" right? :)
Do the flavors taste as good (or bad) as they sound? Why would a coffee roaster choose to accentuate these flavors? And will this experiment poison us?! (Myles may have a thing or two to say about that!)
Plus, we discuss Jason's difficult conversations with his boy and how they're even "better" while riding a bike. And Myles has a "like father, like son" food experience at a sushi dinner that doesn't have a happy ending!

We're having an official Cuban Coffee battle! Since birth, Jason has been enjoying Bustelo coffee espressos - a Cuban coffee tradition in most "North Cuba" (aka Miami) homes. But in a recent trip to the store, a can of the LA based roaster's Gaviña Cuban Coffee caught his eye - they too have roots in Cuba and know what is expected from the strong and flavorful jolt of coffee.
Now, Jason is risking his fond memories and long-time devotion of his beloved Bustelo, as we compare and contrast it to the Gaviña coffee. Who will rise to the top? Which stands true to Cuban tradition? Why should YOU try either one? And will Jason regret this day ever happened? Find out in this episode!
And speaking of crazy things, we start a new segment on the show - The Crazy Shift. Madcap Coffee, one of the top roasters in the country, sent Jason a bag of their "Party" Ethiopian coffee (really... that's the name of the coffee!). The coffee was so good, it inspired us to continue the party theme and see what kind of adult coffee beverages we could make with it. We settled on four: a SPANISH COFFEE (brandy), MEXICAN COFFEE (tequila and kalua), KENTUCKY COFFEE (bourbon) and a COFFEE MARTINI (vodka - shaken, not stirred). How did the party and tasting go? Listen in to find out!
Plus Myles' son has a very unique "sleep walking" episode - let's just say, it wasn't rain. Jason's son finally takes up his dad's hobby (and Jason is beaming with pride) - but will it last?
