Coffee & Heroes Podcast

Welcome to a brand new Coffee & Heroes Podcast Show - Starting Points.  One of the most popular questions in store is - Where do I even start?  Given the sheer volume and variety of titles available, we like to recommend Great Starting Points for brand new readers.

In each Starting Points Podcast, we will give you 3 different titles that are geared towards New Readers.  You won't need any previous knowledge of these characters or genres, these titles will serve as your Ground Zero.

We start with The Dark Knight himself, Batman.   We present 3 titles that will always be available and on the shelves at Coffee & Heroes.

We hope these podcasts will prove a popular resource, and hope you guys dig the show!  Please don't forget to rate and subscribe, and spread the word!

That's right!  The guy who draws Sex Criminals!  Oh and was probably Marvel's best writer of 2019.....

Join Alan, Keith and Roddy as they deep dive into one of Marvel's finest hours - both in the world of comic books and the world of movies.  Settle in, there's a lot to go through here!

The Status-Quo-Shattering Saga that sent both critics and fans reeling!

For more than 50 years, the Soviets employed an undercover agent - an unstoppable, untraceable killer known as the Winter Soldier - to assassinate key political figures in the West.  His suspected identity?  Bucky Barnes, Captain America's onetime partner, thought to have been murdered in the closing days of World War 2.  Now, the Winter Soldier is back, working under the command of the ruthless General Lukin - who has obtained a functional Cosmic Cube, a weapon of limitless power that can bend reality itself.  Vowing to end Lukin's reign of terror and destruction, Captain America relentlessly tracks the Cube's trail - only to find himself face-to-face against the Winter Soldier.  Will Cap be forced to battle his resurrected partner so soon after learning the astonishing truth?

Join Alan, Vicki, Keith and Roddy as they guide you through the April Previews book. Given the way the world is at the moment, these titles, originally solicited for a June Release, will now be released at an unspecified time later in the year.

In the meantime, if any of the titles appeal to you and you'd like them added to your pull list, please do get in touch. As more information comes out regarding the future release schedules, we will do our best to keep everyone updated as and when we know.

Hope you guys enjoy! Stay safe out there!

Join Alan as he does a complete read through of Erf, an all ages comic book by Garth Ennis (Yes, THAT Garth Ennis), illustrated by Rob Steen.  If you have a copy, feel free to read along with us!

At the dawn of time, Erf and his three amphibious friends, Figwillop, KWAAAH, and the Booper, take their first nervous steps out of the ocean, the beginning of an adventure into the primordial world. As they explore the exciting new lands beyond the shore, they discover that the prehistoric jungle is home to the mighty and terrifying Colossux. What follows is an evolutionary fable of love and loyalty for readers of all ages!

This is something to keep the kids and adults occupied through this challenging time.  Hope you guys enjoy!

Titles we're looking forward to for the next New Comic Book Day - 2hr02m15s

Hope you guys enjoy!

In honour of World Book Day, we thought we'd present a very special book club with one of the undoubted greats of the Comic Book Genre, Art Spiegelman's MAUS.

MAUS depicts Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. The work employs postmodernist techniques and represents Jews as mice, Germans as cats, and Poles as pigs. Critics have classified Maus as memoir, biography, history, fiction, autobiography, or a mix of genres. In 1992, it became the first graphic novel to win a Pulitzer Prize.

This one was Roddy's choice, and he is joined by Alan and Keith for a deep dive into this undoubted classic.

We hope you guys enjoy, and please don't forget to like, rate, subscribe and spread the word!
