Today will be a catchall show. I could not decide which topic of the three to run with. Later I figured there was enough of a intersection between them to fuse them for one show.

Let’s explore John Fugelsang’s commentary on the reasons the GOP won’t let the Benghazi exploitation stop. Let’s explore why Democrats won’t come more wholeheartedly in campaigning on the economic benefits and success of Obamacare. Let’s explore whether the whoopla with Donald Sterling’s racist comments is even worth it.

The meaning of May Day has evolved over time.

Initially May Day was the Festival of Flora and a time for young people to find their future spouses

Late 1800s - workers organized to improve inhumane working conditions

Early 1900s - Russians (and later Soviets) began a militiaristic May Day in 1917 to celebrate the successful worker’s revolution

1950s - McCarthy-era fear of communism made May Day celebrations by workers “unpopular”

Today - 100s of rallies are scheduled around the world, including major US cities, to support workers’ rights, immigration issues, and protest the political corruption that keeps worker / business stress alive

They used to lock us in. Now they lock us out. And they use law and regulation (or the removal of law and regulation) to make it so.

We assert that today, just as was the case in the late 1800s, it is the unhealthy relationship between our elected and their funders that allow for and maintain an excessively negative impact on American employees and an excessivly positive impact on global corporation directors, officers, and shareholders.

Today I am honored to have Coffee Party member and one of our progressive leaders hosting the show for me today. Thank you very much Greg Russak for doing the show for me today on such a short notice. I will be at our yearly Meet and Greet Candidate Brunch. I am  doing my civic duty here in Kingwood, Texas.

No, I won’t be answering these questions for you. I don’t know the answers. I need to hear from you, the Coffee Party community, the tea party community, Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives, and all of the fans of Egberto’s show.

I want to hear what Americans of every ideological and political persuasion think about what it means to be “transpartisan” and where – if anywhere – it can take America.

In keeping with the Lunch with Louden commitment to connecting our listeners with events and actions across America, we plan to dedicate the last show of the month to promote opportunities for actions.

This week we will be speaking with Bobby Rodrigo National Organizer for P.A.N.D.A. (People Against the National Defense Authorization Act) and Marketing Director For Free and Equal Elections Foundation. Both organizations have Major grass roots events coming up. The PANDA Take Back Tour Activist Concerts in Georgia, NY, Michigan and California and The United We Stand Fest at UCLA. 

Also joining the conversation will be Dan Johnson who foundedf P.A.N.D.A. in order to fight provisions 1021 and 1022 in the National Defense Authorization Act which unconstitutionally authorize the use of military force on U.S. soil and U.S. citizens, including detention, extraordinary rendition, and extrajudicial execution.

Fire Them All?

In a recent Rasmussen Poll, participants were asked, “Generally speaking, would it better for the country if most incumbents in Congress were reelected or if most of them were defeated?”  A whopping 72% answered “Defeated”.  19% were undecided, leaving just 9% thinking that reelecting incumbents is a good idea.  This tracks very well to the current Congressional [dis]approval rating.  So instead of arguing D’s vs. R’s, perhaps we should motivate the 90 million people that didn’t vote in 2012 to come out and “Fire Them All”.  If that happened, could things be any worse?  After all, incumbents outraise their opposition with great regularity.  Wouldn’t that be a kick in the teeth to the The Kochs, Sorus, and ALEC, not to mention powerful lobbies like those from Wall Street?

Tonight, on Press [1] for Democracy, we’ll discuss this very basic strategy and its merits, and see if it has any legs.

Is rancher  Cliven Bundy a domestic terrorist?

Cliven Bundy is a rancher in Nevada. He believes the Federal Government is foreign. He does not pay taxes. He does not pay the required grazing fees required to have his cattle graze on federal public lands.

Cliven Bundy have continuously lost his case in court. Still, when the government went to seize his cattle for his million dollar bill, many from Right Wing militias from across the country came to his rescue. They came with rifles, sniper guns, and other weapons. They pointed these at our law and order personnel.

On Thursday, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) said Cliven Bundy and his band of thugs are domestic terrorists. Picture a group of Muslim men similarly equipped when the Federal Government attempted to serve a warrant in a mosque. Would the government have behaved as they did with Cliven Bundy? Or would they have gone in with blazing fire. How would it be covered by the traditional news media? Would they have a cheerleader like Fox News who continues to promote these freeloading law breakers?

This is a serious affront to our democracy. Yet, the coverage my some outlets do not understand that they are playing with fire.
