Chiropractic vs medication 💊 There is always a time for medication, however there is also a great need to avoid it as it’s a very viscous circle ⭕️ Chiropractic is a drug free therapy aiming to improve the function of the body so that it can heal and recover faster 🙂 Medicine uses chemicals and lotions to change chemical processes in the body in the aim of resolving symptoms... but at what cost? 🤷 There are next to no side effects and very little risks when it comes to chiropractic, the biggest side effect is increased irritation at the beginning. 👍 Medicine almost always has a side effect even if only mild. All chemicals in our body have more than one job. ☠️ We have to be careful not to turn to drugs unless really needed, especially drugs you are going to become dependant on if you don’t change your life.

Symmetry in posture? How far forward do you lean? Are you a slumper? Do you have a forward pelvic tilt? 3 things that help all disease and injury!!! 🦠 🤕 If only I could get my clients to be more consistent with these three areas of their life, it seems simple but it’s almost never easy 😞 Everyone expects there to be some big secret weapon but here’s the truth, ✅ exercise ✅ eat well ✅ think well ✅ as a bonus I also try to get people to sleep better (normally a side affect of the above though) These 3 areas literally are the main contributors to all diseases including, sickness, injuries, cancer, heart disease and many more. Someone came to I see me yesterday, they have been seeing me for about 2-3months and there body has completely changed. However he has one problem still, sitting in the sofa 🛋  He’s mentioned it before that this now is the only reason for his low back to give him trouble 👿  So let me explain, sofas even more than normal chairs are pretty much guaranteed to make you slump, why? The cushions are soft and the chair is low to the ground. This automatically tilts the pelvis backwards. Like a house if the foundation is off everything above it then has to try and hold together 🏠  This pushes the discs in spine towards the spinal cord most commonly. These are a little bit like a jam donut, they are spongey on the outside and then have a liquid in the middle. If you typically press one side of the donut the jam will come out the other side. 🍩  So when you next sit on the sofa and you think it is taking you some time to loosen off when you stand up is because you may have flattened the donut in your back 😉

Did you know that stress is learnt by the brain 🧠?  There are certain parts of our brain especially the amygdala that respond to our environmental stress 😫  If you put yourself in a chronic stress state then this part of the brain starts to adapt and grow new connections. This essentially means that it then becomes easier to trigger the same state over and over again. 🔁  We see very similar changes in the brain in people that have chronic pain or fatigue syndromes. 😴  What the brain is doing is sensible, it’s trying to make the patterns efficient and easy. However the only thing it’s making easy is your ability to stress yourself out and make yourself sick. Current levels of stress are allowing our brains to rise the levels of adrenaline and cortisol in our bloodstream 🩸  Defects of this on our boat on mental and physical health are astounding and have been linked with certain disorders such as heart disease, cancer and even a weak immune system. But it’s not all bad news because there is something you can do about it. Help reassure other people, take regular exercise, eating adequate diet, look after your mental well-being by doing something you really love doing. Our next podcast guest comes from Dublin Ireland, where he grew up, studied sand now continues to work as a clinical acupuncturist in pain and function management.  Having grown up in Ireland Darren stayed to study to be an acupuncturist in Dublin after many of his ailments were helped through acupuncture. In his youth Darren sustained multiples of injuries from the mixed martial arts and rugby training he had been doing and needles were the answers to his problem.  Having done a 3 year extensive diploma, 6 weeks placement in china and now been in practice for 5 years he has an abundance of knowledge to share with us today.  He currently lives in Dublin with his wife his son and 2 dogs, he is leading a life that helps others make the same steps in their journey as he made before.

Stress is really affecting my clients this week 😞 Social distancing 👨                  👧  Christmas plans ruined 🎄 🔥  No shops for presents 🎁 🛑  Families thrown into high tiers 🔝  It’s very overwhelming but I can literally feel it in peoples shoulder muscles and low back muscles this week.  Stress has a huge impact on our bodies physiology so make sure to learn to control it. Chiropractic and massage are brilliant ways to help the body destress and relax. What’s adaptation?  Our body has a talent of being adaptable, this is the ability to change to your surroundings. However we can create both good and bad adaptations. An example of good adaptations would be building more muscle from exposures to stress that requires strength. In the very same way we could effectively cause tightness by sitting in the same position for 8 hours a day. Our nerve system detects changes in the environment and will adapt to these to make things more efficient in the future.  If we don’t use this amazing system things start to weaken, again this is an adaptation, but is not beneficial. So how do we make good adaptations?.?.?.
