John 4
The story of Jesus with the woman at the well is one of the most famous gospel stories. It is well known because of the shocking nature of the circumstance. Jesus shouldn’t be in Samaria, he shouldn’t be speaking to a Samaritan woman and yet, all of this is happening. And because of it, many other Samaritans will end up believing in Jesus because of the woman’s witness.
Most of us have heard the song about Zacchaeus being a wee little man and climbing a tree to see Jesus. However, we don’t give a lot of thought to what caused him to climb that tree. The Spirit of God was at work in Zacchaeus’s life and in the life of many that were present as he met Jesus.

Today's Sermon, “Chains Shall He Break," is from Luke 4:16-21, and is Week 4 in our Advent Sermon Series. There is a lot of conversation about the main point of Jesus’s ministry. Some like to say it was about ministry to the poor, others say it was all about forgiveness of and salvation from sins. Honestly, it was all of that. Jesus’s ministry was announcing the Kingdom of God that encompasses all of those things. Advent points us to prepare for the fullness of that Kingdom. Join us online, weekly, on Sundays at 9:30 & 11 AM at Coker.org/Livestream (where you can find livestream and also find sermon archives).
