Welcome back to the Collaborative Storytelling Café! Today, we continue to exchange stories with fellow story practitioner, narrative therapist, and artist Yannis Angelis. Yannis is the co-author of Transforming Organizations and Beyond Storytelling, two books on how to work with story-based approaches for individual growth, community building, and organizational change and transformation. He is also a scientific coordinator at the Narrative Therapy and Community Work Institute in Greece. Yannis co-founded Beyond Storytelling, a global network of story practitioners who work with narrative approaches as a transformational catalyst for leadership, learning, change, communication, and community building.
In this episode, we’ll transition to the topic of story as an intervention and the Narrative Walks, an initiative designed by Yannis that consists of a series of interactive, online workshops that address learning issues. Yannis will tell us how the Narrative Walks came to be including the metaphor of walking. We’ll also discuss Yannis’ last Narrative Walk with Mary Alice Arthur including metaphors of war, using the current war as a metaphor, and the importance of nurturing hopeful stories. Last but not least, we’ll talk about listening to be listened to and listening unconditionally. We encourage you to keep listening to hear more from Yannis Angelis.
