The Spirit, through Christ, sets us free from sin and death.

In the pages of the most influential letter ever written, the Apostle Paul summarizes the history of the universe as we know it.  In Romans, we find answers to life’s deepest and most difficult questions:  Why is the world so messed up and broken?  What’s wrong with being religious?  What are the dangers of being good?  Can anyone plead ignorance on the Day of Judgment?  How can I have peace with God?  Who can hold me together when my world is falling apart?  How can I get along better with people?

Don’t underestimate the power of sin in your life or the power of Christ’s rescue.

God’s good law, designed to bring life, actually becomes an instrument of spiritual death when applied to a corrupt heart.

We don’t obey God in order to be saved, but because of whom we are: united with Christ, slaves of God, and married to Jesus.

Serving Christ is not grim bondage, but the greatest freedom of all.

( A reflection on the first part of the Romans series )

We can enjoy peace with God, access to God, and joy in suffering – all because Christ, our representative, has obeyed on our behalf.
