College Avenue Baptist Church - San Diego

Four of our staff leaders, Bryan Eckert, Domingo Cabrera, Brett Murdock, and Mark Schweer, teamed up to provide four short sermonettes that expound on the two banners hanging in our sanctuary: Worship, Love, Invest, Pray.  These four words are our core values at CABC. We'll be looking at each value through the lens of the scripture.  Perhaps you've wondered what we mean when we say that our CABC family is devoted to worshiping, loving, investing, and praying. Now you will have a better understanding!

Grieving Jeremiah witnessed the fall of Jerusalem because of the disobedience of his people, but God promised that, out of the ashes of sin, a savior would arise to restore what was destroyed and give hope to the world.

Stammering Moses had a history of failure and a flaw that disqualified him from liberating his people from Egypt, but God gave him a mission and the enablement to accomplish what He called him to do

Infertile Abraham and Sarah were the least likely couple to be the progenitors of a new nation, but God gave them a vision of who they would become and how He was going to use them to bless the world.

To Whom Do You Belong?

Because of Adam, sin has affected.  By His death Christ, brings righteousness and life to many.

In the pages of the most influential letter ever written, the Apostle Paul summarizes the history of the universe as we know it.  In Romans, we find answers to life’s deepest and most difficult questions:  Why is the world so messed up and broken?  What’s wrong with being religious?  What are the dangers of being good?  Can anyone plead ignorance on the Day of Judgment?  How can I have peace with God?  Who can hold me together when my world is falling apart?  How can I get along better with people?

Is My Salvation a Sure Thing?

Salvation and the benefits of salvation came through Jesus Christ who died while we were sinners.

Abraham is proof that salvation comes by faith, not by works.

The sacrifice of one life, delivers others from death.  Salvation comes by faith in Christ, not by works.

When we understand our need for forgiveness, we appreciate the magnitude of God’s gift in Christ. Jews AND Gentiles alike are all under sin.  No person is righteous and even people who try to keep the Law are unrighteous.

Religious rituals are not enough to heal our relationship with God.
