College Baseball Now

There’s a ton to talk about from the weekend at large with college baseball; UCLA and Mississippi State went to an absolutely cinematic conclusion in Arlington, Oregon pulls out the win in another, and somehow, we find ourselves with plenty of questions heading into conference play! PLUS! We are joined by special guest Brandon Payne (X @bmoney831) of the Prospects Live team to chop up the weekend and the week to come.

After a mid-week period of disaster for top-ranked teams, there is another loaded crop of weekend games for the boys to go through and pick – UCLA will take on Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M in Arlington, big-time rivalries (Florida and Miami, Clemson and South Carolina) explode, and a bizarre grouping of four teams converge on Frisco!

This episode really has it all – Josh Catlett apologizing to his home university Auburn, Jake Bargery leading discussion on UCLA’s big time series win over TCU, JB Sebastiano breaking down the UNC-ECU tie series, and another host who shall remain nameless scraping the bottom of the barrel for something positive about Tennessee. We’re never beating the allegations, baby.

Spartans, Wolverines, forgive us; we’ll wear this one. Weekend one is in the books and boy, historic and unforgettable may not even cover it – the boys are back to break down the first weekend of the 2026 NCAA College Baseball series, from the thrills of the big Southern Miss-UCB series and Oklahoma’s coming out party to the woes of ECU, Troy, and Indiana’s defense.

Only a few hours remain before the 2026 NCAA College Baseball season begins in earnest and as such, we need to begin breaking down the opening weekend’s key series and events. Which of our hosts break up some would-be sweeps? Which series have more of a chance of being “upset city” than others? Which hosts are so eager to get into action? We’ll get all these answers on this episode of College Baseball Now! (Except the last question – the answer is us.)

With our eyes on the season to come, the hosting crew decided to fire up an idea we’ve had for a while – drafting our Omaha 8 and choosing Golden Spikes winners and deep cuts. Who gets picked? Who’s group is best?

Other outlets may give cut-and-dry lists of their pre-season awards for the 2026 NCAA Baseball season, but we’re built different – we’re drafting ours. No host can pick any player who has already been taken in the ten different categories we’re awarding, so whose group of honorees will be best? Let’s find out together!

The Amateur Team at Prospects Live recently saw its Top 2026 Draft Prospects list expand from 50 to 100 – and you are right to assume the crew at College Baseball Now needs to break down the list and discuss it – from 1 all the way to 100! Who do we like? Who do we want to see more of? Who is the world sleeping on?
