Ohio State Football needs an offensive coordinator, plain and simple. The Buckeyes also need to make other changes, but the most important change outside of modernizing the strength and conditioning program is ensuring that this year's offensive disappointment does not happen again. The poor play calling against Notre Dame and Penn State was evident in the regular season, and it was obvious in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri. The wide receiver corps was also underutilized and underdeveloped all season long and the offensive line was disappointing. Ohio State vs Missouri might have been the ugliest game of the 2023 College Football season. The Tigers won 14-3 with all of their points being scored in the 4th quarter on two 90+ yard touchdown drives. Missouri won this matchup because they were better coached and more physical. My reaction to this game is one of disgust. If you had told me Ohio State Football held Missouri to 14 points, I would have expected a Buckeye victory. Instead, the Buckeyes' defensive effort was wasted by Ohio State's worst offensive performance since the 2016 Fiesta Bowl vs Clemson. Ryan Day looked clueless on the sidelines and he could not afford to lose this game. Now, he has to make big changes that lead up to a potentially career-defining season. The Orange Bowl is a matchup of what-ifs. Georgia Football and Florida State Football were a handful of events away from competing in the final 4-team College Football Playoff, and they certainly would be participating in the 12-team College Football Playoff if it kicked off this season. However, both programs are playing in the Capital One Orange Bowl, which is a disappointment for both teams for a variety of reasons. My prediction for this game is a slow, boring Georgia victory by a score of 30-10. I think Florida State deserved to get into the playoffs, but I don't have the power to change that.
