Offensive line play is criminally underrated in College Football. Most football analysts are discussing quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, defensive players, and even preseason Heisman lists before they touch on offensive linemen. An offensive coordinator can have as many elite skill-position players as he wants, but if he doesn't have a cohesive, consistent offensive line, his game planning will be severely limited. The Ohio State Buckeyes have a long and decorated history of developing high-level offensive linemen. For the past several decades Ohio State has always had one of the Big Ten's best offensive lines. They have also consistently had elite offensive lines that assist the powerful offenses put forward by Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. For the past two seasons, the Buckeyes have been uneven in the trenches, which has cost their rushing offense a great deal, especially in big games. Now, with guards Donovan Jackson and Matthew Jones returning, along with offensive line coach Justin Frye entering his second year, I expect the trenches to become one of Ohio State's clear strengths, especially on the interior. Today we will be previewing Ohio State Football's 2023 offensive line. I believe this unit will be Top 10 nationally, with Carson Hinzman having a breakout season at center and the guard duo being Top 3 in the nation. Offensive tackle still appears to be the weakness of this team entering 2023, but the competition at the position is far from over, and regardless of who starts, the unit should improve as the year goes on. The 2023 Ohio State Football team is going to be a physical unit that will pound the football, and the offensive line will be a huge reason why.

If a program has endless blue-chip prospects to sign, a stacked roster full of NFL players, and one of the best staffs in College Football history, but lacks an elite CEO and game manager at head coach, they are eventually destined to fall. My Top 10 College Football head coaches (basically a CEO and game manager for all intents and purposes) for the 2023 season are Brian Kelly, Sonny Dykes, Kalen DeBoer, Luke Fickell, Dabo Swinney, Ryan Day, Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Whittingham, Kirby Smart, and Nick Saban. These coaches come from a variety of backgrounds with different levels of success, failure, and experience, but in my opinion, they share one thing in common. They all have the capacity to win at an elite level in College Football. Alabama's Nick Saban, Georgia's Kirby Smart, and Clemson's Dabo Swinney have won National Titles, and TCU's Sonny Dykes and Ohio State's Ryan Day have won a College Football Playoff game. The other five head coaches, despite not yet winning a playoff game or a national title, I think have the potential to win at that level. Utah's Kyle Whittingham, while I may never reach the playoffs, has done such a good job at maintaining a great College Football program that I must give him credit. He also has fielded two of his best team's in his tenure over the last two seasons, winning the Pac-12 Championship with a 10-4 record in both. I value recent success, a great track record at developing players, winning at the highest level, and also the ability to assemble a great assistant staff. Outside of Kirby Smart and Nick Saban, who occupy the top two spots in my rankings, the other eight spots are up for debate, with coaches such as Sonny Dykes and Kalen DeBoer having arguments to be removed from my list, while Dabo Swinney and Brian Kelly could be higher. I think that after the 2023 season is finished, Brian Kelly, Jim Harbaugh, and Kalen DeBoer will rise while Dabo Swinney, Kyle Whittingham, and Sonny Dykes will fall.

It is that time of the week to talk about bold predictions for this coming College Football season. I want to give the person watching this video (and this description) a massive thank you. I never thought I would have a successful video series going, but I do, thanks to your support. So please give yourself a pat on the back if you have been watching this series. Today will be the 4th video of my bold predictions series, and there will be more released before the regular season ends in late August. My first bold prediction in today's video and seventh overall is that USC defensive coordinator Alex Grinch will be fired in disgrace after the Trojans go 9-3 (6-3) and surrender more than 30 points per game. Even with Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams returning at quarterback, I think Utah, Washington, and Oregon will be too much on offense for the Trojan defense to handle. Lincoln Riley and USC will still have one of the nation's better offenses, but their defensive strategy is doomed to fall apart (yes, even with blue-chip players) against offenses that combine physicality with either great game plans or fast athletes. As USC Football prepares to jump into the Big Ten, they will need a superior defense and possibly even an adapted offense if they want to win the conference. I think Jim Leonhard would be a fantastic candidate, and there are other men such as Pete Golding who would be an upgrade over Grinch as well. My second bold prediction (eight overall) is that the Michigan State Spartans will hit the over on their preseason win total, going 6-6 (4-5) in the regular season and playing competitively in Big Ten play. The Spartans are deep in the trenches for the first time in the Mel Tucker era, and they also have playmakers at quarterback, running back, and tight end on offense. Defensively, Tucker hired former Bills safeties coach Jim Salgado to coach the cornerbacks. The defense also returns defensive tackle Simeon Barrow Jr and linebacker Jacoby Windmon, who will anchor a Top 20 front even in the nation. This team is under the radar this year, as opposed to overexposed like last year. Finally, my third bold prediction (ninth overall) is that both Kansas and Kansas State will win 10 games for the first time since 1995. Both teams return 50% or more of their offensive line production, with the Wildcats returning all 5 starters, and both return their starting quarterback and starting tight end. Defensively, these teams will likely struggle, but both have potential Heisman winners at quarterback with Will Howard for Kansas State and Jalon Daniels for Kansas.

Mel Tucker has earned a reputation as a defensive mind who cannot manage a defense. This is because the Michigan State Spartans have finished every season of the Mel Tucker era with scoring defenses outside of the Top 50. The unit allowed 35.1 points per game in 2020, 25.3 points in 2021, and 27.4 points in 2022. With elite offenses such as Ohio State, Michigan, and Washington playing the Spartans in the regular season, it is of utmost importance that defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton and his staff establish an identity on defense. The bend but don't break scheme, while working at times, needs to be put in the drawer as the scheme is obsolete and MSU has the best roster of the Tucker era. Offenses such as Minnesota, Maryland, Penn State, and potentially Nebraska and Iowa will also have good to great players, so if the Spartans want to win with the nation's toughest schedule, improvements have to be made. Mel Tucker brought in Jim Salgado to help coach up the secondary, which loses cornerback Ameer Speed and safety Xavier Henderson but looks to start several young, athletic players such as safety Dillon Tatum. Defensive tackle Simeon Barrow Jr returns along with linebackers Cal Haladay, Jacoby Windmon, and Aaron Brule. Despite the departure of Jacob Slade, I expect the interior of the defensive line to be among the best in the Big Ten and the pass rush from the linebackers and edge rushers should improve as well. This defense won't be elite, but they should be great at stopping the run and average at stopping the pass. I think Michigan State Football's defense will perform at a good enough level to get them bowl eligibility in 2023.

Can Blake Corum bring Michigan Football back to win the Big Ten for the third year in a row and win the Heisman Trophy? Will Donovan Edwards replace Blake Corum as the Wolverine's starting running back? How will Michigan Football's Rushing Attack fair against elite defenses such as Georgia's? These are all questions being asked regarding Michigan's running back room and their rushing attack. I want to answer these questions and more in today's video. I also want to express my predictions for what this running back room will achieve this year. Michigan running backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards could be the Top 2 running backs in the nation, as both play at an elite level and combined for over 2,000 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns last year. They had one of the best offensive lines in America last year (Michigan won the Joe Moore Award for the second year in a row) but regardless these two had flashes of their own and made plays sometimes without the help of their lineman up front. With the offensive line returning guards Trevor Keegan and Zak Zinter, along with Michigan reloading at tackle and center through the portal, I think the offensive line and consequentially the rushing attack will improve in 2023. Michigan ran 3,345 yards last year and had 41 rushing touchdowns. In 2023, I think Sherrone Moore's offense will run for over 4,000 yards and have 50 or more rushing touchdowns. Blake Corum will win the Doak Walker Award and Donovan Edwards might be a semifinalist for that as well, but due to split carries, neither will win the Heisman Trophy or even reach the ceremony in New York City. Because of their dominant rushing attack and improvements in the passing game (and one that I think will chew up any defense this year), Michigan will win the National Championship this year. My thoughts on Michigan's run game are best summarized in this one word: generational.

People are picking Ohio State Football to regress this season, and it isn't in small numbers. I have seen many comments on this channel that have a contrasting view to mine about Ohio State. While I think the Buckeyes are set to be an elite team this year and I have them ranked as the second-best team in the country, many fans and analysts have them tabbed to fall out of the Top 4, and some have them performing as poorly as 10-2 or 9-3 in the regular season. While I think a 9-3 record prediction for Ohio State is ridiculous, there are valid concerns regarding Ryan Day and his team. 12 days ago I made a video discussing some of Michigan's potential weaknesses, and today we are making that same video but talking about Ohio State's potential weak spots. In my opinion, the two biggest possible weaknesses for the Buckeyes are their offensive tackle and defensive back groups. The defense as a whole last year was suspect, giving up 87 points in their final two games, but the secondary was the weak link in the chain. Ohio State finished in the bottom half of all FBS teams in defensive passer efficiency in 2022 and was the worst secondary in the 2022 College Football Playoff. Jim Knowles returns a high amount of production on the defensive line, at linebacker, and at secondary, which is great news. I expect the defense to be a Top 5 unit this coming season, and the defensive backs to play at a near-elite level. Cornerback Davison Igbinosun should be an immediate impact on day one, and Lathan Ransom will be one of the Big Ten's best safeties. Offensive tackle looks to be the Buckeyes' most certain weakness this year. The interior of the offensive line will be elite with starting guards Donovan Jackson and Matthew Jones returning, but both starting tackles from 2022 and gone and the position looked weak in the spring game. Other possible weak lines in Ohio State's impervious chain are quarterback experience, running back health, and matching up on the field versus Michigan. However, I think these weaknesses, just like Michigan's, all have the potential to turn out great on and off the field.

Bold Predictions Part 3, with a twist. Instead of discussing my bold predictions for the 2023 College Football season, I will be reviewing some of my subscribers' bold predictions. Today, I will be talking about Penn State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Iowa, Florida, Miami, Florida State, and UCF. I will also be talking about players such as Penn State quarterback Drew Allar and Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough. I was surprised at the amount of engagement this video series has gotten, and as a result of said engagement, I am flooded with predictions. That being said, I am discussing six different predictions in today's video, along with touching on a handful of others for a few minutes. The most common bold prediction I received was Penn State Football winning the Big Ten and reaching the College Football Playoff. I think that is a bold prediction, but it is far from a hot take, as the Nittany Lions have an elite running back room and defense with studs at defensive end, linebacker, safety, and corner. I also touched on Drew Allar's Heisman chances, which I think are next to none. Another common bold prediction was Ohio State underperforming in 2023, often going 9-3 or 10-2 in my subscribers' predictions. I think this is a hot take, a bold prediction that does not have much history or evidence to back it up. Do not get me wrong, crazy things in College Football have happened, but Ohio State's floor this year is 10-2, and it is highly unlikely they go 9-3 with the amount of talent they have. Just look at how they return wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr and Emeka Egbuka, along with all of their starting runningbacks, guards, defensive ends, and linebackers. With players such as Tommy Eichenberg, Davison Igbinosun, and Miayn Williams to go along with the wide receivers, this team has an infinitely better chance to go 15-0 than 9-4 in my opinion. I also talked about the chances of the state of Florida having two Top 10 teams, along with Texas Tech, Iowa, and Tennessee's record predictions.

Defense wins championships. This statement, while ages old, still reins true to this day. Just ask Kirby Smart how he won his first National Championship in 2021. In order to win National Titles in College Football, you have to be great on both sides of the football. Today, I will be projecting College Football's 10 best defenses in the country for the 2023 season. I will be ranking defenses based on my power rankings, returning production, talent, points allowed per game, and how I view their coaching staff. Performance in big games is another factor, as teams like Alabama, Ohio State, and Penn State last year performed well defensively, but in big games, they folded up like lawn chairs. Teams like Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, Iowa, and LSU will field elite defenses, as they have depth and a high-ceiling level of play at every position. Alabama could also fill this role because the Crimson Tide have the nation's most talented roster, but I don't have as much faith in Kevin Steele as I do the other five defensive coordinators. Alabama, Utah, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Florida State represent the other half of my Top 10. These teams likely won't field top-tier defenses, but they will play at a consistently high level (Utah, Wisconsin, and Florida State) and/or have an extremely high ceiling (Alabama and Penn State). All of these teams are ranked in my preseason Top 20, with all but Iowa and Florida State being ranked inside of my Top 10. Some teams that just missed my Defensive Top 10 were Texas A&M, Oregon State, Minnesota, Clemson, and Illinois.

After numerous hazing allegations supported by eyewitness accounts of former players and evidence provided by an independent investigation, Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald has been fired, the hazing scandal that has consumed Northwestern Football is painful, and hopefully, the players who perpetrated such acts have legal action taken against them. The university handled this very poorly, as they initially tried to cover up the scandal, but because of investigative reporting by their own school of journalism, eventually swung the other way and fired Fitzgerald abruptly. Fitzgerald is now taking legal action against the school, while defensive coordinator and safeties coach David Braun is expected to be the interim head coach. Regarding my thoughts on the 2023 season and the distant future, I think the Wildcats are going to be a disaster. This roster has players that I love, such as wide receiver AJ Henning and offensive tackle Josh Priebe, along with solid players like quarterback Ben Bryant. However, the roster itself is in shambles from poor recruiting, poor development, and perhaps even the hazing that occurred over several seasons. Northwestern football needs to make a splash hire if they want to remain relevant in the football world. Pat Fitzgerald was the identity of the program and with him being torn away, the loyalty and identity surrounding the program might give way. Only time will tell where Northwestern football goes, but the future looks far from bright.
