In 2022 The Ohio State Buckeyes were hampered by injuries in the running back room, with TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams being injured for most of the year. In spite of that, the rushing attack improved compared to 2021, especially in power situations. There should be improvement again in 2023, and if the running backs can stay healthy throughout the year, the level of progress should be leaps and bounds ahead of what 2022's run game looked like. Miyan Williams was close to reaching 1,000 rushing yards last year, with 825 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, and with an improved interior offensive line and another preseason of rest and training he should be elite in 2023. His peer, TreVeyon Henderson, missed the latter third of 2022 with a foot injury, and I expect him to fully heal from that and get back to rush for 1,000 or more yards in 2023. Tony Alford has done an excellent job recruiting and developing running backs for the Buckeyes. Ryan Day's offense also has Chip Trayanum and Dallan Hayden as capable playmakers at the position. Ohio State Football has one of the deepest running back rooms in the nation, and if they can stay healthy and the offensive line and passing game can open up holes, Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson could quickly lead the nation's best rushing attack, rivaling Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards at Michigan.

On Thursday, the Big Ten released their 2024 and 2025 conference schedules, which include new conference teams USC and UCLA. The changes confirmed the rumors, the Big Ten removed divisions and turned to a round-robin schedule that featured anywhere from zero to three protected rivalries for each Big Ten team. This is called the "Flex-Protect" system, whatever that means. I am a huge fan of all these changes, but I think some additions could be made to add more entertainment value to the fans, strengthen the reputation of the Big Ten, and make the annual matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes even better while protecting its integrity (I bet you did not think that was possible). Under the new scheduling format, Michigan and Ohio State will have the opportunity to meet two times in one week, once on the last weekend of November, and the second time in the Big Ten Championship Game. If both win their following Collee Football Playoff Games, they could meet for a third time. I do think this is awesome, as both are the Top 2 teams in the conference, but I think that meeting twice in one week can be exhausting, so I have some solutions to help enhance both the conference championship week and The Game's experience. Introducing a 4-team tournament (similar to our current playoff model) and potentially adding a bye week before the Big Ten Football Tournament would help the participating teams to rest and the emotions and hype to build back up for the matchups. Other suggestions I have include moving the conference slate to 10 games, but I think that is inevitable once the conference expands again. The new Big Ten schedules not only positively affect the Big Ten, but they also have the potential to ensure Michigan and Ohio State have a death grip on the conference.

The 2024 and 2025 Big Ten Conference schedules were released yesterday, and man, there is an avalanche of content we need to big through. This is the first-ever Big Ten schedule for the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins, who announced last year that they would be joining the Big Ten beginning in 2024. As expected, the Big Ten removed divisions and turned to a round-robin schedule that featured protected rivalries. Every Big Ten team (except for Penn State) has anywhere from one to three protected rivals. For example, Michigan and Ohio State, USC and UCLA are each other's only rivals, while Iowa has a protected rivalry with Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. While there is now more parity in terms of strength of schedule, teams did get the shorter end of the stick. Mel Tucker and Michigan State play Michigan every year, Ohio State in both 2024 and 2025, and they play USC and Penn State in 2024 and 2023 respectively. The Penn State Nittany Lions on the other hand have no protected rivals and their toughest game is home matchups against Ohio State and USC in 2024 and a road game at Michigan in 2025. I am already excited as can be for Big Ten Football in 2023, but with so much changing in 2024 I had to talk about it. Hope you guys enjoy my reaction and analysis!

When was the last time the Alabama Crimson Tide had this many questions entering a season? I would say 2011 at the latest, but the answer is probably the 2007/2008 season, as Alabama Football has been on a historic run since Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa. Alabama Football entering 2023 has questions at quarterback, wide receiver, and in the trenches on both the offense and defense. I have seen many Top 25's (my own included) that have Alabama outside of the Top 4 and many SEC predictions (again, my own included) that have Alabama not making the SEC Championship Game. It isn't that there isn't belief that Nick Saban can win a National Title, as he has won 7 in his career, but the question is, "Will Nick Saban win a National Championship?". With a roster outside of the Top 100 in returning production, quarterback controversy, and 2 new coordinators that are changing the program's identity, it would be a challenge to win it all. However, Alabama has done this before, and with the most talented roster in history, don't be surprised if Nick Saban surprises everyone after he has been written off in the preseason.

You all requested this video to be done in my polls, so here I am to deliver it to you all! Welcome back, today, we will be discussing my Big Ten Football predictions for the 2023 season. Like in my Top 25 and Big Ten predictions videos (https://youtu.be/XQuGDr_wJP8), I have compiled rankings based on each team's depth chart and coaching staff. My record predictions are closer to set in stone than not, as the transfer portal has closed, most recruits are already enrolled and playing for their specific school, and coaching staffs are set in place. However, summer camp injuries and position battles are still in play, and because of that, I will be releasing a final Big Ten predictions video in early August. The Pac-12 has become what we used to know as the Big 12 as, a powerful, historic conference that loved to engage in shootouts between elite quarterbacks and the nation's best offensive minds. I think Caleb Williams, Michael Penix, and Bo Nix are the Top 5 quarterbacks this year, and when you combine that with their head coaches and coordinators, it becomes obvious that the Pac-12 is loaded with talent, toughness, and speed on offense. Utah, Oregon State, and Washington should have great defenses to pair with their successful offenses. While the future of the conference is uncertain, I am confident we will see some of the most exciting football played on the west coast this year.

Michigan State went from being the hottest name in the sport to being frozen in the iceberg of irrelevancy (for now). After capping off a 10-2 regular season with a Peach Bowl victory, the Spartans drove into a ditch in 2022, going 5-7 and losing to teams as mediocre as Maryland and as bad as Indiana. Now, with intense pressure on his back, can Mel Tucker steer the ship towards victory in the rough sea that is the Big Ten. There are many advantages and disadvantages that the Michigan State Spartans have, and in the world of the transfer portal and NIL, you need every advantage you can get. Recruiting, development, adapting, conference realignment, and donor support are all factors that will impact Michigan State's and Mel Tucker's futures. It will take winning to maintain players and recruit at a high level in the 2020s and beyond. Also, the fanbase and donors will not be happy with another losing season. However, despite a tough schedule, Michigan State will improve its record and team performance in 2023. If they can stay healthy, the Spartans could crack the Top 25. Contrary to popular belief, I do not think recruiting is the only factor that matters, and if Tucker can develop his players well and make necessary staff upgrades, the Spartans can be right back in the contender conversation.

Sonny Dykes took TCU to the College Football Playoff in his 1st year at the helm, setting the standard high for any head coach who finds himself at a new job. However, when you overachieve so much in 1 year, one must wonder how far the fall will be. Quarterback Max Duggan, wide receivers Quinten Johnson and Taye Barber, running back Keandre Miller, linebacker Dee Winters, and more departed the program after the Horned Frogs concluded their 13-2 record with a loss to Georgia in the National Championship Game. Broyles Award-winning offensive coordinator Garrett Riley also departed for the same job at Clemson. Losing an elite coordinator and a roster full of NFL talent certainly stings but with 13 incoming transfers (3 of them from Alabama might I add) coming in, there is a good chance this roster reloads and retools. While I do not believe TCU is capable of matching their success from the 2022 season, I think their chances of making another playoff run or winning the Big 12 are larger than many will care to admit. They have too good of a head coach and Sonny Dykes and are recruiting well enough that ignoring the Horned Frogs will be a grave mistake.

Ohio State's defense by points allowed per game ranked No.38 in 2021 and No.24 in 2022. The defensive backs have overall been lackluster and while the defensive line and linebackers have serious talent amongst their ranks, they have struggled when it matters most. Despite this, I am very high on Jim Knowle's defense entering 2023 and I think they will be an elite defense, not just good or great. I predict the Buckeyes will rank No.4 in points allowed per game and No.3 in overall defense. Why?! Well, there are many reasons to support my claim, most notably the fact that Ohio State returns 77% of its defensive production from 2022, which ranks 20th in the country. The Buckeyes currently have 4 5-stars on defense, most notably defensive ends JT Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer. The other 2, linebacker CJ Hicks and safety Sonny Styles, should receive adequate playing time and potential play in the starting lineup. Jim Knowles has also tweaked the scheme to fit the Buckeyes' needs and maximize their strong development on the defensive line. Finally, Ryan Day and his staff have not only utilized the transfer portal to assist the offensive line but they have brought in 3 defensive backs and 1 defensive tackle to sure up the defense. The secondary should be Top 20 in passer efficiency and I expect it to be playing at a Top 10 level by season's end. The defensive line and linebacker corps should be among the best in the country.

The Wolverines have gone an unprecedented 25-3 in their past two seasons, only losing to No.7 Michigan State (11-2), No.1 Georgia (14-1), and No.2 TCU (13-2). After two College Football Playoff appearances, however, the Wolverines have yet to win a single playoff game. In both matchups, Michigan was handled at the line of scrimmage, their defense broke down, and the coaching staff seemed woefully underprepared. However, I believe in Michigan and I think they will go 15-0 this year, winning the Big Ten and beating Ohio State for the third year in a row, as well as winning College Football's most prized award. I am a Michigan fan, but I accurately predicted the Wolverines to go over their 2021 and 2022 season win totals and Michigan is a combined 4-0 against Penn State and Ohio State over the past two years, the best teams the Wolverines will face. Michigan is No.5 in returning production, most importantly returning quarterback JJ McCarthy, running backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, offensive guard Zach Zinter, wide receiver Cornelius Johnson, defensive lineman Kris Jenkins, linebackers Junior Colson and Michael Barrett, and nose back Mike Sainristil. All of these players are stars, and there are others like tight end Colston Loveland, cornerback Will Johnson, defensive end Josaiah Stewart, and defensive lineman Mason Graham who could emerge as stars as Jim Harbaugh checks off each Saturday win. Michigan is set for success in 2023, so don't wait to jump on the train!

Michael Penix Jr tore his ACL against Penn State in the 1st half of the 2021 college football season and no one batted an eye. He had played horribly throughout the year and Indiana looked abysmal. On the other side of the country, the Washington Huskies went 4-8 after starting in the Top 25 and they fired head coach Jimmy Lake for hitting a player. Penix transferred to Washington to pair up with his former offensive coordinator turned head coach Kalen DeBoer, and the match was made in heaven. Washington cruised to an 11-2 record, beating three opponents that finished ranked inside the final Top 25 (Oregon, Oregon State, and Texas) and finishing 8th in the polls. With Penix returning, along with his wide receiver core and much of his offensive line, I think this offense can be even better than it was last year. Also, the Washington Huskies are No.22 in returning production are they have the No.28 overall recruiting class (high school + transfer portal). Despite facing a daunting schedule, I think Washington will win the Pac-12 and reach the College Football Playoff in 2023.
