The purpose of the TMCC Institutional Advisory Council is to ensure the linkage of the College to the community it serves and to anticipate future regional educational needs. The Council will meet at least quarterly to advise the College President, the Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges, the Chancellor, and the Board of Regents Standing committee on Community Colleges on questions regarding operation of the College. The Council shall function and exercise the powers set forth by the Nevada Board of Regents.

The Reno City Council. led by Mayor Hillary Schieve, recognized TMCC English Professor Henry "Hank" Sosnowski as its 3rd Quarter City Superhero at the Council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.

TMCC, along with Reno Sunrise Rotary and Education Alliance of Washoe County, gave away school supplies to over 1800 elementary school children to get them thinking, "Let's Go To College."

The Veterans Resource Center at Truckee Meadows Community College has moved into a larger space on the Dandini Campus. Veteran students have more room to get assistance, do homework and connect with other veteran students.

The Fitness Center at the Dandini Campus has been named for TMCC's 8th president, Dr. Maria C. Sheehan. President Sheehan's made contributions to and supported health and wellness initiatives at TMCC.
