Missionaries Brent and Karolyn Halstead are with us today. The Halsteads serve the Lord in Nirobi, Kenya, Africa, where Brent teaches courses at a Christian college and together the Halsteads help church planters with evangelism and administration. It is our privilege to host them today.

Typical Christmas advertisements have simple expressions like -Bilieve- or -Do you still believe-- These advertisements assume that reality is based on people's faith, not the other way around. But what does the Scripture say about Christian faith- Does our faith make a fact- Or does a fact produce faith- Let's explore the relationship between faith and facts and why faith is so crucial in the Christian life.

A little child puts his hand on a hot stove after his mother has warned him not to do it. As his little hand hurts from the resulting burn, he learns a valuable lesson-don't put your hand on a hot stove. Religious liberals have attacked the Bible's presentation of Jesus, accusing our Lord of being a radical who got caught up in political intrigue and was crucified by Rome as a result. This depiction of Jesus is far from the truth, as it denies the Gospels' portrayal of Him as well as denying the Old Testament prophesies concerning His earthly ministry.

Proverbs emphasizes the importance of using the right kind of words in dealing with others. This is especially true in Christian families. Parents need to remember that their children are learning to handle the pain of their sin and should speak wise words that bless their children. Jesus fulfilled all of the prophesies about Messiah in the Old Testament. One of those prophecies was His taking away our sin problem. While we still struggle with the effects of our sin, we know that the Lord has dealt with their long-term impact. Today's message looks at how Jesus fulfilled this important prophecy.
